Does Southwest generally add flight times?

Usually we're really happy with Southwest's flight times, but the options for our October trip aren't the greatest. Does Southwest ever add more flights as we get closer to the date? Thanks!

Not that I've ever seen. Once they post the schedule that's pretty much it. This is why they do not post their schedule so far in advance like the other airlines.

The only time that I have seen flights added is the day the schedule comes out. So, if there weren't dates add on 3/23 when the schedule thru October 30 came out, more than likely they won't be.

I did notice that there are 1-2 flights less per day and more of the flights are not non-stop.

I would say book it. My flights for October came down from $105 to $98 today. But my MCO-PHL flight on 10/25 is sold out at the cheapest fare.

I do not think they will be adding and have not seen that in past unfortunately.
I just read an article that indicated that SW dropped 26 flights into fla (mco mostly) and I have seen less NS from ISP, LI, NY and a bit later time start, just keeping our fingers crossed, we really like SW for several reasons...
Convenience
Price
Customer Service
No luggage fees
No change fees
Credits for reductions......its ALL good by Me! :thumbsup2

I noticed this too. Seems like every year it's becoming less and less. We like to fly down on Fri nights for long weekends sometimes and there used to be 9 pm-ish flights. Last fall, latest was 7 or 8 pm. Now 6:20 is the latest flight down. It's still non stop but compared to USAirways flying down almost every other hour, it's easy to see how much they've cut back.

I still love SWA for reasons mentioned by pp.

Not going to happpen. Adding a flight would probably mean having to drop a flight somewhere else. SW waits to extend their schedule until it's final.

SW continues to reduce flights which only sell at deeply discounted fares. That means fewer flights to MCO. Fewer N/S flights. Early and late flights don't sell well, without deep discounts.

SW has reduced the number of flights so they (hope they) won't have to offer many $59 fares to fill the planes.

And they seem to have done a pretty good job of that - I haven't seen a fare below $99 out of Albany in ages.
