We may need to do this for our upcoming Disney cruise. We have only flown with Southwest twice so we have no clue as to what their policy is. Any help would be appreciated!!

No there is no charge which is one of the things that makes Southwest so great.

What you do is go to the website and under the travel tools link (upper right corner) click on cancel reservation. You will put in your confirmation # and the name of the main person on the reservation. SW will issue you a credit for the full amount you paid for your flight in the form of "ticketless travel funds". Then you find the new flight that you want to take and book as normal. When you get to the payment step you will use your ticketless travel funds as payment. If the total is more due to flight fares changing you can pay the balance with a CC. If the total is less than your TTF then they will deduct the amount and leave the rest for you to use later. TTF are good for 12 months after the date of the original flight booking.

I see on the website that they do have a "change Itinerary" option as well. I have never used that so I can't say how it works but it may be easier than what I described above. I have always canceled and rebooked when fares drop which is why I use the above steps. I have never just made a straight change.

If it is just a normal price change or flight change, you can just make a change without having to cancel and rebook. If it's cheaper a TTF will be issued as described above (valid one year from original ticket purchase) If it's more you will need to pay the difference, but no, there is no change fee. If you are trying to take advantage of a DING fare you will need to cancel.
