Does Soarin have seats that don't move?

Soarin is one of the very few rides my son will ride (probably because I talked him into it on our one previous trip!), so I plan on getting a FP for that, and probably use the DAS for an additional return time.....the last time we went, he was very nervous and made his "anxious" noise the whole ride, but several hours later, asked to ride again......unfortunately, at that point, the lines were super long so we didn't bother. I'd like to avoid that this time, in case he decides to do a second trip, especially since we don't have many attractions we are dying to do at Epcot, we will mostly just walk around and check out the countries.

But I'm rambling......my REAL question.....DH gets motion sickness very easily, and is afraid to try Soarin. He is fine just waiting in line with us and then standing off to the side while we ride. But I thought I read somewhere that there were a few seats that didn't move? Or am I totally making that up?? . Even though he is fine not riding, I was hoping there was a way he could join us!

never heard of seats that do not move. I assume that there is a chicken exit that Husband could use ifn he decides not to ride. there is no standing to the side as even CM must leave while ride is in motion

There are no seats which don't go up off the ground in Soarin'. You cannot wait off to the side either; you have to wait outside the theater.

Drat! Thanks for the info :). That must have been some other ride, somewhere, that I remember reading that about.
Last time I remember he waited in line with us (we just waited in the regular standby line as we went directly to the ride as soon as the park opened!), and helped keep DS calm and out of trouble. But you're right, he didn't go into the actual theater area with us, he just stood with us until we got to the entrance and then waited outside. I imagine he could still do that with a FP too, or no? That could still involve waiting a bit even with a FP, couldn't it? (I've never used one before so not familiar with how the lines work vs the regular line).

As the other posters mentioned, there are no non-moving seats.
Because the ride apparatus moves forward and up for the show and back and down at the end, it would be too dangerous to have guests in the area.
The different tiers of seating would also block the screen, so a non-riding guest would not see the screen anyway.

People who are not going to ride can go all the way in line and then exit. I've seen people sit down, get right up again because they changed their mind and go out the exit.

Probably thinking of Mission to Space. One side moves and one side stays stationary. They did this after so many people got sick on it.

A clarification - both sides move on Mission Space. They are on arms of a centrifuge, which spins and in the beginning, there was only one version, which spun.

The Orange Side also spins at the same time as the other motions of the ride are occurring. It spins faster at certain points. Because of the movie you watching and the other motions, you don't feel the spinning as spinning - more as pressure of G forces.

The Green Side has the same other motions as the Orange Side, but it doesn't spin. It does make one slow revolution during the ride, but too slow to experience as spinning. Since the attraction was designed to spin, the revolution is needed to reset the attraction for the next show. The other motions are kind of similar to Star Tours, so someone who has motion sickness issues from Star Tours may also on this ride.

So, while the Green Side doesn't spin, it does move.

Am I making it up, or does Star Tours have non-moving seats? Or the possibility of having non-moving seats?

Star Tours is a bunch of large simulator theaters that seat many guests at a time in rows. After loading the car, mthe movie and motions start.

They don't have non-moving seats, but in the past, they would sometimes run a show with the movie, but none of the motions. It was not always available, and sometimes they would tell people to come back at a certain time so they could run a full car without motion.
I have NOT heard of anyone being able to do that since Star Tours was renovated a few years ago.
