Does Size Matter?

I've read complaints on other boards about the size of the TV's in the rooms at the Polynesian. "If I'm paying $XXX.XX for a hotel room, then I better have a TV as big as I have at home," kind of comments.

We don't watch the TV that much when we are at Disney. Mostly it is just something to fall asleep to. Does anyone else think the TV's should be larger?

Who watches TV??? Doesn't matter to me, I can even tell you what size they were. We mostly watched the wdw advertising channel when getting ready to go out. I'd rather relax outside at the resort, I feel like I'm more in the action that way.

I will never understand how people can be hung up on tv while on vacation. It's sad to read posts that people will be devastated, some to the point that they will not go if they can't watch their favorite sports team while on VACATION:confused:

We will have it on as backround noise while getting ready to go to the next park. Or as we get ready to call it a night. But I would NEVER let it get in the way of a FAMILY vacation.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :jester:

Everyone out there have a great tv-less vacation :-D

If your worried about the size of the T.V. in your hotel room and it's not to your liking, then stay HOME. Or pack your BIG SCREEN and bring it with you.

I've never paid any attention to the size of the TVs at the Poly. Are they smaller then the ones at the other resorts? I've never noticed. We only watch TV to catch the news although I love watching the WDW info channel!

I can honestly say that there has not be a time when I watched TV at disney that was not the disney info channel. I never needed to watch. I usually am so excited to do everything else that I do not think about TV.

The size of the room doesnt matter to me let alone the tv. Im just happy to be in WDW staying in a clean Disney room.

Aloha,

The only TV Size that concerned me was the one when we get home to view the great video's. If the TV in the room is not large enough for you, the one in the concierge lounge is a much bigger screen, but the view across the water to Cinderella's Castle and the Water Mouse boats on the Seven Sea's Lagoon
is a much nicer view than anything on any channel.

I am a TV fiend, I watch lots and lots of TV. I love Star Trek, I have every single Next Generation episode on my laptop. I can usually hook it up to almost any TV. We stayed at the Poly recently, I can only remember that the TV was smaller than the one in the GV living room, but no big deal. Any TV is big enough. My little 2" LCD tv keeps me going through the day, my laptop and star trek episodes when in a waiting room.

Even I don't have a problem with the size of the Poly TVs.

Resort TV's have two functions:

1) the Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Tip For Today channel. Man, I love that.
2) The soap operas on the Japanese channel. Its far too much fun to sit around with a friend and try to figure out what's going on.

Other than that, who cares? ;) As long as there's a tv in there, and its big enough to see while I'm relaxing in bed, I'm happy! Its the Poly- how could I NOT be happy?

I could care less about the size of the TV's. In fact, it would be great if I could be away from the TV for the entire vacation! That would be heaven to me. DD's have a hard time giving up the Disney shows though! :p

Now the size of the room is most important for me. I couldn't care less about the TV but the room has to be pretty spacious or I feel cramped in. I figure if the room isn't as big as my own bedroom than it certainly isn't a vacation.

TV size doesn't matter to us either! Sometimes at night we put on the Bedtime Stories as the kids are settling in - but there isn't even a PICTURE to go along with that anyway!:p

Mostly we watch in the evening or early a.m. for the local weather, and then the Disney info!

TV watching has always been an integral part of our Disney vacations. When the kids were small, they would go back to the room every afternoon for what we called the Timon and Pumba film festival. It was a chance for them to relax with their dad while I did a little shopping or hung out by the pool. I love being there and knowing there's Disney cartoons all the time. :)

TV Size? Who cares? Vacations are to get AWAY from the TV and all the bad news, "un"reality shows, talking heads and blah blah blah! With the exception of the Disney news channels, we rarely even turn on the tube at WDW.

Besides, we never worry about missing an episode of our favorite shows. Since they only make like 20 episodes a year these days, everything gets rerun over and over and over.
