Does PMS change as you age? (I'm turning 35)

I just turned 40 (ick) and I think it's worse in the last few years. Mine isn't before though -- it's during.

Before...during...after....I'm starting to have only one good week a month!

The only thing that works for the migraine I get just before is Xtra strenghth Midal. Don't know why but it is the only thing that seems to work for me. I am now 48 and do not get "hot flashes" but I am warm all the time. I haven't needed a winter coat for 10 years now. My younger ds gets hot flashes and they look horrible. What does happen to me is that my legs get really hot sometimes at night so I really like the room cold. They also twitch sometimes and that is a real pain in the legs.LOL Every month I seem to be the same and there is no real change there yet but I am ready.

I am 36 and have noticed a big change in the past year. The week before, I am in a bad, bad mood and it takes nearly nothing to set me off. And I always have one or two days where I can barely keep my eyes open. It's such a bizarre feeling to be that tired when I have had plenty of sleep. I always used to think claiming to have PMS was just an excuse to be grouchy, but boy was I wrong! It's a terrible feeling.

I've had the insomnia too! I just finally figured it out about a month ago. This month when it starts I'm just going to take a Tylenol Pm and see if that helps...I'm use a crab when I don't sleep.

::yes:: My story....:rolleyes:

For about a year (hey, around 34!) I was cutting my OWN bangs each month. They would suddenly drive me nuts each month and I would trim them. (disclaimer...I am NOT a hairdresser and yes they looked awful, now that I look back on it)

Dh said I had PMS, ignore the man of course. :o I also was insane if the house had clutter around. I would be cleaning and yelling at family.

So...after a few years I figure out yes it is PMS. I stopped cutting my hair and I clean "before" my shriek week hits and I am fine.
(Figure THAT one out)

At 39 now, I can predict it and be proactive. Cutting back on caffeine has also helped.

Could be worse, my friend gets migraines for days and throws up.

So yes...PMS is REAL!

Absolutely gets worse as you get older. And just when you realize there really IS PMS, you realize that it ain't just the PMS, it's PERIMENOPAUSE. ;) I started going through that a couple years ago. I get awful night sweats and moodswings.

I also get the PMS migraines. The only thing that helps is Excedrin, chocolate and a really deep tissue massage from DH. (If he happens to be in town when it hits;) ).

I do everything to relieve the symptoms, including drinking alot of soy milk (which I happen to love anyway). Nothing really works. I just live with it.

It does change as you get older.

I also learned recently that if you suffer from PMS the symptoms often worsen if you have had children. It can get progressively worse with the birth of each child.

Oh my goodness. This topic is really hitting home with me. I just turned 34. All my life I've had mild periods, no cramping, no headaches, slight weight gain. I'm a single parent. My boyfriend and I were just talking about this.

Lately, one week out from my period. I get *****ie. My boyfriend also gets *****ie. This is scarry. I think I'll pose this question.

I read the entire post on this topic, and I must say, some of you ladies have a great sense of humor. I'm laughing so hard...only because I have some of the symptoms myself.

Eveyone have a great day..........everyday.
