Does Pixie Dust Help with Decision-Making? A 2012 PTR! NEW! 6/30 pg.85

Jackie, I have to totally agree with you!! Before I read your favorite, I was trying to decide between first thing in the morning and evenings at MK. And I think evenings at MK won out!

The start of the day is filled with so much anticipation but the evenings are just so much fun - especially at MK. We have a few nights planned for MK coming up very soon. :thumbsup2

My mother sent my dad and me to the Magic Kingdom for the night. It turned out to be one of my favorite memories of all-time. Just my dad and me riding all my favorite rides (and his) including 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (he was a submariner, so we always had to ride that when we went to the Magic Kingdom). Afterwards, we bought root beer floats and sat watching the world go by in Fantasyland. Which I spilled on myself -- I guess that is where my kids get their propensity for getting sticky with ice cream at the Magic Kingdom. LOL! I had totally forgotten that happened to me until I was typing this.

What a wonderful memory!
I love all of it except the thought of riding the submarine. (I did ride it once, by the way. Once and only once. ;))

I think I like different times of the day at different parks and even different parts of parks, to be honest.

I love opening Magic Kingdom:
* seeing the crowd build and noticing those who are first/only-timers, listening to their conversations as they point things out and intently check their maps
* the thrill of the opening show
* being greeted by cast members wearing big white hands as Main Street comes to life
* walking on rides, getting off, and walking on again, if we choose
* eating mid-morning snacks from Main Street Bakery and people watching as the park begins to really fill

I love Fantasyland by morning, Adventureland by day, and Tomorrowland by night. Tomorrowland is so cool at night with all of the lights, I think.

Epcot - I don't really have a preference. I like strolling slowly out after once last lap around World Showcase after Illuminations, so I guess I'd have to go with evening.

Hollywood Studios - nighttime, because I love ending the day with Fantasmic.

Animal Kingdom - morning. We love the early safaris and seeing the medical procedures done in the mornings at Rafiki's. Of course, if I am riding Kali, that needs to be the last evening ride so that I can exit the park after I am drenched. ::yes::

So, the world's worst decision-maker rides again! I have no simple answer to your question. My answer comes with A, B, C, D and ALL OF THE ABOVE. :upsidedow

I have to agree with MeMom about liking different parks at different times of the day. But overall I like mornings, before opening and the first hour and a half before it gets crowded.

At night I do like Tomorrowland and World Showcase, both because of the lights. I like World Showcase after Illuminations and the crowds have cleared out.

What a great flash back to the story of you & your dad. I think those simple things just turn out to be the best memories!

I love EMH in the parks, especially morning. I like to be one of the few "special" people allowed in the parks early in the day, the high fours down main street, and the ability to ride six different rides before the crowds hit!

I would love to be in the parks at sunrise...but not on Leap Day when it was crowded ;-)

then again, the one night that Katie and I spent in the MK till midnight (Joe was not feeling well) were magical too, the crowds were dwindling, the Jungle Cruise was awesome, there is something well, magical, about the park at night too.

Twilight is my favorite time too....it seems to me that as the sun goes down, the lights go up, and EVERY inch of that park becomes more magical and mysterious all at the same time. I love it too because I can finally stop sweating! :) Some of my favorite memories have also come at that point in the evening. Love your memory with your Dad...too funny about the spilled root beer float though! (Apples REALLY don't fall from the tree!)

Love memories like that! Twilight in Epcot ( or any park/Downtown Disney) is definitely my favorite time. The heat of the day is gone, the sky is turning beautiful colors, you have the fun of the day to look back on but the coming evening fun to look forward to - plus a yummy dinner... :cloud9:

I have to agree with you that twilight in all the Disney parks is special, but that same time at MK is extra special!

I love your story of going to the park in the evening with your dad! What a great memory! When we went as a kid, I never remember staying into the evening. We always stayed off-site, and when it got to dinner time, my daddy loaded us up in the car, took us to dinner (off site, of course! ;) ), and then off to our hotel for bed! I had never been in the parks in the evenings until I started going with my own family!

I agree with MeMom in that I love all the parks at different times of the day. I love the morning at MK & that walk down an almost empty Main St. on our way to a CP breakfast but then I love seeing the castle lit up while riding Splash.

I love running with the masses to Soarin in the morning but I love the countries at night.

I think I like DHS at night with all the lights.

And twilight in EVERY park!!

What wonderful memories you have with your parents.:goodvibes

I have to say I like the parks at twilight & at night. It seems so magical with all of the lights.

I loved the story of you & your dad at the park. It reminded me of my seventh birthday. My dad took me to see Lady & the Tramp, afterwords we went for ice cream. I had my first hot fudge sundae, have loved them since & Lady & the Tramp will always be special to me.:cloud9:

I have to say I was worried so much about getting the twig furniture I switched resorts. Now it's AKL, our first deluxe!:cool1:

What a wonderful memory Jackie!! I have a father daughter moment at MK like that too!!! I cherish it!!

I have to say Disney at Night is by far my favorite time!! I adore it!!!

World Showcase after Illuminations and then the walk back to Beach Club afterwards has to be my favorite time at Disney.
Early morning in the Magic Kingdom is pretty magical as well, especially if you have a pretty blue sky welcoming you!

Such an amazing memory, Jackie!

My favorite time at the MK is park opening. I love seeing how excited everyone is, especially kids who are there for the first time. I love how peaceful Main Street seems in the morning.

I also love the WS right after it opens. I love strolling from country to country while it's still quiet.

I agree, you can't beat evenings in the MK -- when all the lights start going up on Main Street. It makes me fall in love with it all over again. :lovestruc

What a wonderful memory!
I love all of it except the thought of riding the submarine. (I did ride it once, by the way. Once and only once. ;))

You know, I am like you in that I don't like tight, enclosed spaces, but I always loved the submarines -- I think it was because it was because I wanted to be like my dad. However, I do not know how he could be on submarines under the ocean for months at a time. No thank you!

I think I like different times of the day at different parks and even different parts of parks, to be honest.

Yes, I do have to agree that all of those things make mornings fun at the MK.

I love Fantasyland by morning, Adventureland by day, and Tomorrowland by night. Tomorrowland is so cool at night with all of the lights, I think.

I do always think of Tomorrowland at night.

Epcot - I don't really have a preference. I like strolling slowly out after once last lap around World Showcase after Illuminations, so I guess I'd have to go with evening.

I always think of Epcot in the mornings -- specifically drinking a coffee drink while the rest of my family rides Mission:Space.

Hollywood Studios - nighttime, because I love ending the day with Fantasmic.

Yes, I like DHS the best at night. Seeing the Tower of Terror all lit up and hearing the screams. ::yes::

Animal Kingdom - morning. We love the early safaris and seeing the medical procedures done in the mornings at Rafiki's. Of course, if I am riding Kali, that needs to be the last evening ride so that I can exit the park after I am drenched. ::yes::

Definitely a morning park in my mind with the sun rising over Harambi.

So, the world's worst decision-maker rides again! I have no simple answer to your question. My answer comes with A, B, C, D and ALL OF THE ABOVE. :upsidedow

 Let's face it -- we love all Disney parks at all times of the day. ;)

At night I do like Tomorrowland and World Showcase, both because of the lights. I like World Showcase after Illuminations and the crowds have cleared out.

I do like different parks at different times of the day -- it's funny how when we think of certain ones, it is always at certain times of the day.

I love World Showcase during Illuminations -- right as it is starting and the torches are being lit.

What a great flash back to the story of you & your dad. I think those simple things just turn out to be the best memories!

I don't remember a whole lot about that trip anymore, but I do remember that night like it happened yesterday.

I love EMH in the parks, especially morning. I like to be one of the few "special" people allowed in the parks early in the day, the high fours down main street, and the ability to ride six different rides before the crowds hit!

You can't beat it! :thumbsup2

I would love to be in the parks at sunrise...but not on Leap Day when it was crowded ;-)

I would have been happy to fight the crowds that day -- it would have been a lot of fun.

then again, the one night that Katie and I spent in the MK till midnight (Joe was not feeling well) were magical too, the crowds were dwindling, the Jungle Cruise was awesome, there is something well, magical, about the park at night too.

My favorite Jungle Cruise was one we took at night. We had a great skipper who really hammed it up -- it was Connor's first ride on it, and he raved about it. LOL!

Twilight is my favorite time too....it seems to me that as the sun goes down, the lights go up, and EVERY inch of that park becomes more magical and mysterious all at the same time. I love it too because I can finally stop sweating! :) Some of my favorite memories have also come at that point in the evening. I somehow suspected you and I would agree on this one, Jen. LOL! Charles offered his opinion last night. He said, "I like when it is nighttime, and I finally stop sweating like a pig." :lmao: Pretty much what I said a little more bluntly.

Isn't that funny about the root beer float -- when I realized that it became oh-so-clear why Chelsea always ends up sticky in the MK right before the parade. :rotfl:

Yes, that yummy dinner is always a plus! :thumbsup2

I had never been in the parks in the evenings until I started going with my own family!

The only time we ever stayed on-site was that time at the Contemporary. We usually stayed at a Holiday Inn right outside the gates. My parents decided to splurge and then afterwards said it wasn't worth it. To this day, my dad always says, "You could save so much money if you stayed off-site." I've tried explaining that it is all part of the experience, but he just doesn't get it.

I agree with MeMom in that I love all the parks at different times of the day. I love the morning at MK & that walk down an almost empty Main St. on our way to a CP breakfast but then I love seeing the castle lit up while riding Splash.

Those are all things I love, too! Oh, doesn't it just make you want to be there right now? It is one of those sunny days here in Georgia that always makes me think, "This is Disney weather." LOL!

What wonderful memories you have with your parents.:goodvibes

It's no wonder I love Disney as much as I do since it is such a part of our family's history. I am using another story for the next "interactive" update. ;)

I have to say I like the parks at twilight & at night. It seems so magical with all of the lights.

Yes, the magic just seems magnified at night.

I loved the story of you & your dad at the park. It reminded me of my seventh birthday. My dad took me to see Lady & the Tramp, afterwords we went for ice cream. I had my first hot fudge sundae, have loved them since & Lady & the Tramp will always be special to me.:cloud9:

Awww, I love that! I remember going to see Sleeping Beauty in the theater with my dad (it must have been a re-release).

I have to say I was worried so much about getting the twig furniture I switched resorts. Now it's AKL, our first deluxe!:cool1:

:rotfl: That's too funny! You will love AKL -- you know how I feel about it! :lovestruc

What a wonderful memory Jackie!! I have a father daughter moment at MK like that too!!! I cherish it!!

Share please. :goodvibes

I have to say Disney at Night is by far my favorite time!! I adore it!!!

Me too! It kills me that my family always seems to want to head back for an early night. Maybe this trip they will be better.

World Showcase after Illuminations and then the walk back to Beach Club afterwards has to be my favorite time at Disney.
Early morning in the Magic Kingdom is pretty magical as well, especially if you have a pretty blue sky welcoming you!

Do you know I have never lingered in WS after Illuminations? I think we might need to fix that.

I agree, Jen! Both those times are lovely! :goodvibes

I made my decision before I read yours so as not to be influenced by peer pressure. :lmao:

I have to say late at night, after the park is closed and everyone is rushing to the exit. DH and I always stay back and find a place to sit and relax for a few minutes. I love how it seems like the whole park lets out a big breath when everyone is gone. I love to wander around and take some night time pictures. I love being among the last to say goodnight to the place and mostly, I love leaving the park without being trampled.

Your argument in favour of twilight is convincing though. ;)

Great post :goodvibes thanks for sharing the sweet memories ....

My favorite time in the parks...I have to go w/ night time as well....I love the time in the parks after the crowds have thinned out and the lights are flickering on....I love the twinkle lights in the trees, the castle at MK changing colors from vibrant shades of blue and purple, the light up sidewalk squares at MK...

:cloud9:

I love your description of twilight at the MK! :cloud9:

My favorite time of day has to be early morning though, I love when it isn't too hot and the crowds are still light!

I am easily swayed by everyone else's opinions where Disney is concerned.

I think on this next trip if we are still in a park, I will have to insist we linger. We have never done that, and it sounds quite nice!

Yes! Twinkle lights in the trees are the BEST!

I love your description of twilight at the MK! :cloud9:

Mornings are my second favorite time -- except when we are stampeding with the masses to TSM. That's not my favorite.

As I mentioned previously, we are on spring break this week. Since I have class on Mondays and Wednesdays, we are staying close to home. That's okay, though, since the preceding months have been so hectic. It's been nice to just hang out and rediscover the joys of having very few things on the to-do list.

It has been such a warm spring in the South that all our plants are blooming. My mind is having a hard time with that because it feels like it should be the beginning of May instead of the beginning of April. I am not complaining, though, because I love warm weather.

So do our azaleas...

Yesterday we made Easter candy bark. It was supposed to be chocolate and pink swirled together, but Chelsea got carried away with the swirling and it is just a pale chocolate color now. No worries -- we will know for next time and it is still tasty.

I also realized that this PTR has been seriously lacking in pictures of my two Muppets lately (we watched The Muppets last night, so those crazy felt guys are on my mind).

No fear that Chelsea and Connor are too mature for silliness. They still love hamming it up for the camera.

I was laughing so hard, I am surprised I was able to hold the camera steady.

Just three months until they have Disney World as their backdrop to their antics.

Just three months until they have Disney World as their backdrop to their antics.

I have been busy cleaning and weeding out 'stuff'. I have four sacks of junk ready to go out to the trash truck tomorrow morning. Exciting to me, anyway. ;)

Love seeing two of my favorite tween/teenagers! Their concoction looks marvelous! Brooklynn would be in sugar heaven!

Three months! :woohoo: As I have been doing my cleaning, I have had Disney music on in the background. Right now I am in France listening to the area background loop. Aaaaah! So nice a reminder of what comes in 79 days. :thumbsup2
