Does Pixie Dust Help with Decision-Making? A 2012 PTR! NEW! 6/30 pg.85

Oooh love the random update! Love Connor's smile! And Blake and I love Mexican too!! Chelsea is totally cute and ready for yearbook action! And I LOVE the color combination! Such relaxing and rich colors! I dig it! :thumbsup2

Looks great! I am glad we are not painting, though. It sure does get to be a mess before the beautiful end result!

Everybody seems to be holding up well at your house. Drew would love to be down there working on that car with your dad. Chelsea will do a great job on the yearbook. I was on the newspaper staff, and it was a lot of fun. We got to get out of classes several times to go do fun things. :thumbsup2

The picture of Charles with Hook and Smee is awesome. He needs to recreate that one next time you go!

Thanks for checking in with us this weekend. Have a good school week!

Love your colors, but that is probably because we have a color on one wall called Wiliamsburg cedar that matches one of your's! We redid the family room last Feb., new paint, furniture, carpet & doors. The kitchen is up next, but just doing new paint. Also trying to weed out a 30 year accumilation of stuff.

YAYAYAY Happy Birthday Connor!! His face says it all, he had a blast!!!!

I adore the colors you chose for your house!! Looks so nice!! You want to come help me next LOL! Between you on the inside and Anita on the outside my house will be set LOL!!!!

Happy birthday Connor. I love Chelsea's haircut as well. She really does look like she is on her way to report the news. The paint is beautiful. I love it. We did a lot of painting this summer too and it made me fall back in love with my house.

Awesome colors Jackie! I have some of the same color in our home. I love the warm feeling! Now Dimitri has requested his room be in green. I don't suppose you came across any really warm greens that you liked, did you? I love the photos you choose to display. Your house feels very welcoming to me. :)

Pretty pretty colors!!!!!!!!!! I'm in the process of interior paint as well, long overdue and no fun but so nice when it's done. Eric's room was tackled over labor day and Evan's room is in two weeks, we were picking up swatches yesterday.

Although I'm not entirely sure about "cote d'azur" and "luau green" for the next 6 years which is what I've told him it has to last.

Jackie I love those earth tone colors. So pretty! Did you guys do it yourself or hire someone? It's really looks great! I especially love the pumpkin color.

I am totally with Connor on the Mexican food! I LOVE it too! I hope he had a wonderful birthday!

I agree with Memom. You need a redo on that character picture that Charles is in. That would be great to see them side by side! :thumbsup2

love the beautiful paint colors, so rich and homey :goodvibes sink right in feeling! your note/keepsake board is so sweet too, I have always been inspired to make one, but never do...hmmm maybe soon

and happy belated b-day to Connor, what a fun place to celebrate :cool1: Olay!

Hi Jackie! I'm joining in! I've always promised myself that I would join in on one of your reports at some point and actually be able to follow along! So, here I am!

First and foremost, I am so, so sorry about the death of your Mom. My prayer and thoughts go out to you and your family (hug)

Next, your trip to Tybee Island sounds and looks amazingly relaxing and wonderful! What an adorable cottage! I love it!

I also love your new paint! What fabulous colors! It's so warm and homey!!

Can't wait for more!

Hi Jackie!!!

Sorry I haven't been on here for quite awhile.......I just wanted to express my sincere sympathy to you and your family on the death of your mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Hope you all are hanging in there...hugs!

I LOVE the new colors in your house...it looks amazing!!! The colors are so beautiful and rich! :thumbsup2

My DH Chris would be right there with Connor on the Mexican food. If I didn't have a say, he would probably eat it EVERY night! Hope Connor had a great birthday...

Love Chelsea's haircut...she looks so grownup and ready to take on the yearbook! :goodvibes

Love the paint colors you've chosen - it looks great!

Justin would be all over that red Corvette too, and my response would be the same as yours

Thanks, I love the new paint. It makes the house look so much better!

Chelsea doesn't seem to get the fact that the Corvette is too powerful for her.

I love love LOVE the paint colors you have chosen and I love their names too. I have skipped paint colors before if they have a dumb name. :lmao:

I'm glad you are staying busy, you will have to take some pictures of your dad's corvette!

Thanks, LL! Yes, the names were just as important as the colors.

The next time I am over at my dad's, I will take some pics.

Happy belated birthday to Connor!!!

I LOVE the paint colors you chose (the grenadine in particular), they look great! :goodvibes

Thank you! I do love them all! I smile every time I walk into those rooms.

I love the colors you chose for your house. So pretty!
Connor looks thrilled! Next year, you'll have two teenagers in your house. Talk about hormones! :rotfl:

Hope you're having an amazing weekend!

Thanks, Jen! I am trying not to think about having two teenagers. Yikes!

I love Connor's face in that picture! It just says it all in regards to how happy he is to be there.

I love the colors that you've chosen. Very pretty and they seem to fit your decorating very well. I especially love the Grenadine color.

Connor didn't stop smiling the entire time he was being sung too.

I had fun picking out the colors. Who knew there were so many different shades of cranberry and pumpkin.

Your Grenadine looks very much like the new color we painted our kitchen. (Red Delicious) Now we are getting a black and white clear glass tile back splash. Finally our two year re-do will be done! I also love your Brick Oven and I could have gone that way in the dining room but decided to go with the other apple color in a green... Now I'm second guessing my decision. Did you say that you are doing the painting yourself?

Oh, that backsplash is going to be groegous!!! Well, I chose the colors and Charles and my MIL did the painting. I was in charge of moving things out of the way. ;)

Beautiful paint colors!! We haven't done any interior updates/painting in quite a while & are probably due... I'll have to keep those colors in mind. :thumbsup2

We hadn't painted since we moved into this house (when Connor was two), so it was overdue. My tastes in colors have changed a lot in the last ten years.

Love the paint colors! Very warm and rich.

Connor looks so happy at his birthday dinner! happy belated birthday wishes to him!

Hope things are feeling a little better for you. I know you'll never "get over" losing your mom, but it will get easier. Hang in there!

Thank you, Sheree! Connor had a great time on his birthday. Trying to hang in there. I know the next couple of months will be hard with the holidays and our slew of November birthdays coming up, but a good friend of mine who has lost her father and sister told me to try and do things completely different for them -- that it makes it a tinier bit easier.

I love the old Disney Picture and Silhouette! I have a couple pictures of my husband at Disneyland when he was around 5, those are the best!

They are the best! I loved coming across the one of Charles and Captain Hook and Smee because he tends to be such a Disney grump. :lmao:

I love the new colors. great job. Chelsea is ready for her new assignment, how to drive a red Corvette.

Happy belated birthday to Connor.:goodvibes

She only wishes that could be her new assignment. :rotfl:

Gorgeous paint choices Jackie - I love them all!

Connor is too cute in his sombrero! Mexican is always my first choice too! Your co-workers comment is too funny "Sorry you lost him already" :lmao: Don't worry - I predict he will stay a nice teenager!

And Chelsea - so cute! When Nick decided to drop French 4 to join the yearbook staff the first question he was asked was, "Do you have a digital camera?". I said - yeah - you can take the old one!

Thanks, Mary Ellen! Our downfall is that there is a Mexican restaurant right outside our subdivision, so anytime I don't feel like cooking, it is very easy to say, "Let's go to Tarasco's." Thursday I had one of those moments, and Connor did a happy dance.

Chelsea has been eyeing my digital camera -- it might be a good excuse for me to upgrade mine -- I want a Canon Rebel because then I could use all of my lenses from my 35mm.

Oooh love the random update! Love Connor's smile! And Blake and I love Mexican too!! Chelsea is totally cute and ready for yearbook action! And I LOVE the color combination! Such relaxing and rich colors! I dig it! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Jess! You should have seen me making sure the colors went with all the Halloween and Christmas decorations.

Looks great! I am glad we are not painting, though. It sure does get to be a mess before the beautiful end result!

I hate things being in a disarray, but afterwards I love the result.

Everybody seems to be holding up well at your house. Drew would love to be down there working on that car with your dad. Chelsea will do a great job on the yearbook. I was on the newspaper staff, and it was a lot of fun. We got to get out of classes several times to go do fun things. :thumbsup2

It's when we slow down that it hits. The weekends are usually the hardest because that's when I would see my mom.

The picture of Charles with Hook and Smee is awesome. He needs to recreate that one next time you go!

Thanks for checking in with us this weekend. Have a good school week!

I agree -- we will need to keep our eyes peeled for those two Neverland villains. ;)

This whole home improvement thing is exhausting, isn't it?

YAYAYAY Happy Birthday Connor!! His face says it all, he had a blast!!!!

I adore the colors you chose for your house!! Looks so nice!! You want to come help me next LOL! Between you on the inside and Anita on the outside my house will be set LOL!!!!

Thanks, Jen! I need someone to come landscape our yard. I am so not inclined to do that!

Happy birthday Connor. I love Chelsea's haircut as well. She really does look like she is on her way to report the news. The paint is beautiful. I love it. We did a lot of painting this summer too and it made me fall back in love with my house.

Thank you! I do love our house more with the new colors. That's probably a good thing since we won't be moving anytime soon with house prices the way they are.

Connor looks like he was have a blast on his brithday! :thumbsup2 Mexcian is my favorite as well!

Love your paint colors!

Thank you, Erika! He did have a blast on his birthday -- Mexican food, gifts, and cake -- his favorites!

Awesome colors Jackie! I have some of the same color in our home. I love the warm feeling! Now Dimitri has requested his room be in green. I don't suppose you came across any really warm greens that you liked, did you? I love the photos you choose to display. Your house feels very welcoming to me. :)

Thank you, Kelli! I do love the jewel tones best! I didn't look at greens since my SIL has a lot of those in her house, and I didn't want to look like I was copying. :rotfl:

Pretty pretty colors!!!!!!!!!! I'm in the process of interior paint as well, long overdue and no fun but so nice when it's done. Eric's room was tackled over labor day and Evan's room is in two weeks, we were picking up swatches yesterday.

Thanks, Cynthia! Love the names of those colors! Chelsea was talking about redoing her room (which was done last summer), and I told her that she wasn't getting it done until the rest of the house was finished -- my bedroom and bathroom will be next once the family room is done. Then, Charles piped up and said it wouldn't be a good investment to do her room again since she only had four more years at home. :scared1:

Jackie I love those earth tone colors. So pretty! Did you guys do it yourself or hire someone? It's really looks great! I especially love the pumpkin color.

Hi, Rinky! We did it ourselves. :thumbsup2

I am totally with Connor on the Mexican food! I LOVE it too! I hope he had a wonderful birthday!

He did! He did!

I agree with Memom. You need a redo on that character picture that Charles is in. That would be great to see them side by side! :thumbsup2

I think so, too! :lmao:

and happy belated b-day to Connor, what a fun place to celebrate :cool1: Olay!

Hi, Julie and thanks! I bought the memory board at Hobby Lobby, and I had fun putting things on it that I love from vacations and such. I really liked the way this latest manifestation turned out.

Hi Jackie! I'm joining in! I've always promised myself that I would join in on one of your reports at some point and actually be able to follow along! So, here I am!

Hi, Melissa! Welcome! I enjoyed reading about your adventures with Mary Ellen, Christine, and Cynthia! I need to head over to your latest!

First and foremost, I am so, so sorry about the death of your Mom. My prayer and thoughts go out to you and your family (hug)

Thank you. I never expected to lose my mom so soon. It's been really hard not having her in my life anymore.

Next, your trip to Tybee Island sounds and looks amazingly relaxing and wonderful! What an adorable cottage! I love it!

We had a great time! I have a couple more updates to do on it, and then we can start planning the next Disney trip. :thumbsup2

I also love your new paint! What fabulous colors! It's so warm and homey!!

Can't wait for more!

Thank you! I have enjoyed updating the house!

Hi Jackie!!!

Sorry I haven't been on here for quite awhile.......I just wanted to express my sincere sympathy to you and your family on the death of your mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Hope you all are hanging in there...hugs!

Hi, Lynne! Thank you so much -- there are still days when I don't feel like any of this could be real.

I LOVE the new colors in your house...it looks amazing!!! The colors are so beautiful and rich! :thumbsup2

Thank you! I have been wanting to paint for awhile, so it's nice to have it done finally.

My DH Chris would be right there with Connor on the Mexican food. If I didn't have a say, he would probably eat it EVERY night! Hope Connor had a great birthday...

Connor loves Mexican food. In language arts, they had to make a menu for an imaginary restaurant to showcase their knowledge of adjectives, and of course, he made his a Mexican restaurant.

Love Chelsea's haircut...she looks so grownup and ready to take on the yearbook! :goodvibes

Too grown-up somedays! :rotfl:

Okay, I must finish this Tybee Island trip! We are now into October, the house is decorated for Halloween, we are making pumpkin chocolate chunk cookies, I am wearing a cardigan over my pajamas this morning, so I must finish this summer trip. LOL!

Thursday on the island dawned the same way it had the previous days. I made coffee, took it to the screened-in porch, and called my mom to chat. I had called her every morning to catch her up on our adventures.

The cottage even had mermaid coffee mugs.

Once Charles was awake and had joined me, we decided we just weren’t feeling the beach that day. Instead, we wanted to take the kids to Fort Pulaski -- a Civil War era fort -- and do some shopping. Charles and I love historical stuff, and we figured the fort would be a fun way to spend the morning.

Connor was excited to head to the fort since he had studied the Civil War in school last year, and Chelsea grumbled the entire time at being made to do something educational.

As you can imagine, the 150th anniversary of the Civil War is a pretty big thing down here in the South. After all, the events of it really have shaped our area for a century and a half. Growing up in Charleston, I learned at an early age that the opening shots were fired at Fort Sumter, and living here in Atlanta, of course, there is nothing pre-1864 since Sherman torched it all. Although, he was kind enough to spare Savannah since he gave it to Lincoln for a Christmas present. Anyway, enough history rantings for a Sunday morning.

Connor was enamored with the cannons.

The full effect of the experience is lacking, though, since you can’t hear Chelsea complaining the entire time.

Chelsea thrilled to be leaving.

2011-06-04172.jpg

After our trip to the fort, we went shopping back on the island. Connor had decided he wanted to spend his money on hermit crabs and was thrilled to pick out two: Mickey and Ponce (named after Ponce de Leon because he was an explorer). A side note: Mickey and Ponce enjoyed a month of living with us when one night Connor came to dinner crying. I asked him what was wrong, and he said, “Mickey just doesn’t look right.” We went to investigate, and sure enough, Mickey didn’t look right because his body parts were scattered around the tank! Poor Mickey. Ponce soon went the same way, and Connor was devastated. He loved them while they were with us.

We also did some other shopping -- I need to track down all the souvenirs and take pictures soon. I hope I can remember everything we bought.

For dinner that night, we headed to Fannie’s which sits right on the beach. We ate out on the balcony, enjoying the view, the ocean breezes, more live music, and drinks. Connor and I shared a huge plate of nachos, but I don’t really remember what Charles and Chelsea ordered.

That night we hung out on the porch again, playing games.

UP NEXT: Our Last Day at the Beach.

I love the pictures of the fort. I am a bit of a history bluff myself. One more bit of history one of the Civil Engineers that planned Ft Pulaski was a fresh out of West Point Robert E. Lee.

Did you bring a Mermaid Cup home? I know they sale them.

Cool! I always love tidbits like that! It makes history that much more interesting.

Did you bring a Mermaid Cup home? I know they sale them.

I did not, but I did see them for sale in Seaside Sisters.

So, as usual, Friday morning dawned sunny and beautiful. However, we were a little sad because it was our…

We headed to the beach for the majority of the day to enjoy the ocean.

Connor and I spent our time making sand castles.

Notice the stick Connor found the first day is still around sticking out of the sand bucket.

Chelsea spent her time soaking up some sun. Charles just relaxed in his beach chair.

186.jpg

Unfortunately, we spent so long at the beach, I got a little too much sun.

Before heading to dinner, Chelsea insisted on getting her airbrushed hat. That’s all I will say about it. ;)

Our last vacation meal was at a place called the Crab Shack that boasted drinks, boiled seafood, and gators. Luckily, for Connor, they had chili which is what he ordered. Charles ordered crab legs, and Chelsea and I ordered shrimp.

Connor’s favorite part of the restaurant were the gators that you could feed. So, after dinner, he purchased a little bag of food and went to play.

My favorite part of the Lowcountry -- Spanish moss dripping from oak trees.

That night, we did laundry and packed -- I think we were all a little sad to be leaving Tybee Island.

Saturday morning, we hit the road pretty early -- you know how Charles is.

Good-bye Fish Camp Cottage -- we loved our stay!!!

UP NEXT: Souvenirs!

The fort looks really cool! I never even knew sesquicentennial was a word until last year when we heard a bunch of stuff about Lincoln visiting NH. My friend Laura is a historian & was doing a lot of Lincoln work around that time!

I love the crabs - sorry they didn't have a very long lifespan.

Before heading to dinner, Chelsea insisted on getting her airbrushed hat. That’s all I will say about it. ;)
:rotfl:

Feeding alligators...

Can't wait to see your souvenirs!
