Does Pixie Dust Help with Decision-Making? A 2012 PTR! NEW! 6/30 pg.85

Hi jackie!

Again, I'm sorry for your family's loss. I've been thinking about you.

I love this TR, and this latest installment has me hungry for shrimp!!

That picture of the sun looks like a painting, it's so pretty!

Joining in (a bit late, I know!)

First I just want to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I am sending lots of good thoughts to you and your family.

You certainly found the cutest little beach cottage that could have ever been imagined! Everything about it is adorable. Can't wait to hear more about your trip :goodvibes

Hi!!! Welcome!!! I promise I do actually post a lot about Disney on my PTRs. You wouldn't know it right now, though. LOL!

Thank you!

Hi Jackie! It is so nice to see you back.

What a gorgeous sunset. I am very glad you switched and bet you were too! Turtle races...who'd have thunk it. :confused3. Sounds like a really cute kitchy idea though!

You are making quite a case for a trip to Tybee!!! ::yes::

Hi, Christine! Thanks! I love that picture of the lighthouse and sunset. I think I am going to get a large copy to frame for the kitchen.

I was thinking of you this week when House Hunters had an episode set on Tybee Island, what a gorgeous place! I really want to go someday.

Turtle Races? !!! I want to see a turtle race, I am so excited that Connor got to be a part of the race. How much fun!

Oh, I need to see that episode of House Hunters! Connor LOVED those turtle races.

Those lighthouse pictures with the sun setting are gorgeous!

Too funny about the turtle races, I bet that was a sight to see

Thank you! It was too funny to see those turtles. There was one that the announcer said actually hams it up every single night. He gets right to the edge and then turns around and heads back and so on. He said that particular turtle had a real personality.

I know we've talked already, but I just wanted to say, I think of you every day.

I loved this chapter. I am :lmao: over the turtle races. The dolphin excursion looks amazing. For some reason I can't see a shrimp boat without running Forrest Gump lines in my head. ;)

Thank you, Kat! I think of Forrest Gump, too. LOL!

Hmmmm...your dolphin photos look quite a bit like my whale watch pictures. :upsidedow I swear I saw some, you just can't tell by my pictures! We did see some dolphins there, too, on the way out to the whales' feeding grounds, but I wasn't quick enough to get them coming out of the water.

I think I said this on Facebook but the sunset pictures seriously look like they could be posters!

Love, love, love the turtle races! :rotfl:

Thanks, Meghan! I would love to go whale watching some day!

Jackie, I have been thinking of you! I hope your days are filled with much love!! I for one can't believe how fast the school year is going!!!

What gorgeous pictures of Tybee especially at Sunset, just stunning!!!!

Turtle races :lmao: that sounds like too much fun! Glad Connor was able to participate and have a good time!

Thank you, Jen! I can't believe how fast the school year is going, either. We are almost at the end of the first nine weeks!

Turtle races! How funny. I've heard of them before, but I always thought that it was a joke of some sort.

When I saw the picture of the shrimping boats, all I could think about was "Jenny"!

We took a whale watching cruise in San Diego, and if you think that dolphins are hard to capture on, whales are even harder. I remember thinking as a kid "okay, where are the whales"? I think that dolphin cruise would be so cool.

I had no idea there were such things as turtle races before that night. LOL!

I had always wanted to take the kids on a dolphin cruise, so I am glad we did it!

Dolphins & Turtles! :thumbsup2 A great way to spend a day on vacation!!

I agree! We are quite the animal family, so the kids had a great time.

Jackie,

I was away the last two weeks of August and have just got around to reading again...

 I am profoundly sorry for your loss and have you and your family in my thoughts and prayers...

Patricia

Thank you, Patricia! It has been pretty hard, but we are surviving.

Gorgeous sunset pics!
Turtle races?! Did it take about three hours?

Okay, I'm going to have to take a Tybee island trip! It just seems so relaxing and fun! My vacation bucket list is HUGE!

Surprisingly, turtles move much faster than I would have thought. LOL!

My vacation bucket list is pretty long, too!

So sorry again Jackie. My grandmother passed away suddenly in December and I still have problems talking about her. Time definitely heals all wounds as they say and it will get easier. Definitely thinking about you during this time.

Thank you, Jess.

That sunset is absolutely beautiful! Looks just like a poster and I can totally see Forest Gump on one of those shrimp boats! Turtles races...ah, SO fun!! I always had turtles growing up, my grandfather used to bring them back for me on his trips and I can SO appreciate a good turtle race like Connor! :thumbsup2

Those turtles were so funny! I might have been able to get more pictures if I hadn't been laughing so hard.

Hi Jackie...so wonderful to see another portion of the Tybee report :goodvibes The sunset pictures by the lighthouse are so pretty...and turtle races what a hoot :thumbsup2

Thanks, Julie! We had a lot of fun that evening between seeing dolphins and watching the turtles race.

Wanted to send a few more  your way. My Mom passed away 2 years ago in July. She had a chronic disease COPD but had been doing very well. I will tell you it gets easier. You never forget but as you begin to heal more happy memories are there than sad. [/QUOTE[

Thank you, Mary.

I also saw that HH episode on Tybee. made my Hubby watch it. So glad you changed and dd the sunset cruise. Looks so nice. Hurray for turtle races-so fun.

The sunset cruise was great! I am so glad I changed to it, too!

Jackie -

So glad you did an update and I'm not quite sure how I missed it! :sad2: Oh well, better late than never!

The sunset dolphin cruise looks so fun and the sunset is gorgeous! Turtle races - that's so Connor!!!!! What are you going to do when he becomes a teenager????

Chelsea looks so grown and so beautiful in her picture!

Welcome Back to Writing!!!!! WOOT!

Hi, Mary Ellen! Thanks! It feels good to be writing again! :goodvibes

Connor is going to be something else as a teenager. I am already beginning to see that attitude from him. I said to a colleague the other day, "Apparently Connor is a middle schooler now," and she responded, "I am sorry you lost him so soon." :lmao: Working at a middle school, we know only too well what the teenage years are like.

How cool to be able to see dolphins like that! :)

The more I hear and see of Tybee, it seems more and more charming. Looks like a wonderful place, that is for sure!

Too funny about the turtle races. I have never seen any myself, but if I am not mistaken, I think Disney's Vero Beach has them as well. ;)

Tybee was such a charming place! I had always heard great things about it, but I really wasn't prepared for just how wonderful it really is.

Yay! An update!!

I know, right? I wasn't sure if I would ever post again.

Such a great photo of your two kiddos!

Thanks! That hair of Connor's was driving me nuts this summer. I am glad he decided to get it cut before school started.

AND I love that the turtles were racing! I did NOT see anything like that at Vero, but maybe they do the turtle races when it isn't nesting season. Anyhow, it looks like you were having a good time! AND again a great family day in Tybee! :goodvibes

We did have a great time/day! I would love to be back there right now!

Ahhhh, I love dolphins!!! It has always been my dream to swim with dolphins and I have not done that yet. I think I would have passed out going on the dolphin cruise! :lovestruc

LOL I want to see some turtle races too!

We saw so many dolphins, Heather! You would have been in your element! There was one big family and they had a baby that was precious!

You had such a wonderful dolphin cruise! I love the lighthouse and sunset pictures. They are really beautiful! Very good choice to change to the evening cruise! :thumbsup2

So glad your ticket got chosen for the turtle race. Looks like a fun time and certainly makes for good storytelling!

Thanks, Rinky! You know I immediately thought of sharing that turtle race on the DIS. :lmao:

Hi Jackie!

Now that the school year has started, I will FINALLY be able to catch up here.

Off to read. :surfweb:

Hi, Jen!!! The start of the school year is always so hectic, isn't it?

Hi Jackie. It's nice to see you back. I know you can't really be yourself yet, but we missed you. Hope you are starting to have some better moments.

Thank you, Tammie! I missed being around all of my DIS friends, too!

It was so good you changed your cruise to the sunset cruise -your lighthouse pic is so beautiful! I'm glad the dolphins were so much fun - that is one I would love. How fun about the turtle races:rotfl2: Great way for them to sell more drinks!

Charles and I said the same thing about selling drinks -- we each bought more than we would have normally just because Connor really, really, really wanted one of our tickets drawn. LOL!

Hi Jackie!
So happy to see you back and writing. It's the little things that will help you ease back into life.

Thanks, Anita. Yes, I am trying to do the little things that always make me smile. I feel like I am in some sort of time vacuum right now -- I can't believe we are already halfway through September. :sad2:

The dolphin cruise looks like a fun time and what a great way to see them up close! So glad the kids didn't flop overboard and cause you to be "that family".....

I am amazed one of them didn't go overboard.

I can just imagine how much Connor loved that turtle race! I would have been all over it too! I wonder if they would have let us enter Scales? A hibiscus bloom or strawberry would have brought him right over the edge of that circle in a split second!!!:rotfl2:

That picture of the lighthouse with the sunset is frame worthy!

Scales would have been a great addition to the race!

I am thinking of ordering that one for the kitchen.

My money would have been on Scales. ::yes::

CP - Beautiful pictures!

We would have very much enjoyed the turtle races. :thumbsup2

My money would have been on Scales, too. LOL!

The dolphin cruise looked neat. I never could get a picture of the dolphins in the ocean either. I was too slow!

The turtle races crack me up!

Those dolphins sure proved elusive for pictures, but they put on quite the show for us anyway. :goodvibes

When you get time, would you come over on our TR and show the pieces of painted dishes and accessories you have gotten from AK and AKL? I showed some on my last batch of pictures, and I think you have some others you can show people who are interested.

I wish I had some of the bigger pieces, but alas, too many things to buy when we are at Disney. :goodvibes

Don't know how I missed this. Fabulous update. The sunset cruise sounds so much better. Dolphins and a beautiful sunset. I don't think I would have been able to capture the dolphins at all. I too was thinking of Forest Gump when I saw the shrimp boats. I found out a few months ago that my Dad actually had a shrimp boat with his uncle and cousin for a while after he graduated high school. It was damaged during a hurricane so that was the end of that.

Turtle races! What a hoot. Danielle would have loved them too. So glad Connor was able to participate.:cheer2:

Too cool about your dad having a shrimp boat! That would have been neat! Too bad it was damaged in a hurricane. :(

My goodness...I fall more and more in love with this place with each and every update! The dolphin tour sounds amazing and so do the turtle races! That is awesome! Chicken fingers would have been my order also. ;) The lighthouse at sunset gave me goosebumps! Beautiful!

Thanks, Stacy! The sunset cruise was so much fun. Yep, Connor wouldn't even consider eating shrimp. LOL!

What a wonderful day to relive with us. Of course Connor was all about the turtle races. I think I am surprised he didn't ask to take one or two home. He didn't, did he? :rotfl:

Oh, he wanted too, don't you worry. LOL! However, he had his eye on a different species of beach dweller as you will see in the next update. ;)

I know all too well about being "that" family. I imagine my girls' screaming and then my screaming was prompting some gasps from our neighbors. (We live in a townhouse and some windows downstairs were open...)

:lmao: I am glad I am not the only mom like that! :goodvibes

I wish I had some type of amazing advice for you. On Wednesday, it will be a year since my dad died. I guess the emotions become less raw. While running with my friend yesterday, I was able to talk about a great memory of my dad. I could feel it was emotional, but I didn't sob like I would have several months ago. So, I think I will pray that you are able to recall and share great memories of your mom without quite so many tears.

We are here to lean on...:flower3:

Thank you, Debby. Your descriptions of emotions becoming less raw is so true. I am looking forward to the day when I can talk about my mom without tearing up.

I love this update!! The dolphin cruise sounds great. I plan to go on one the next time I go to HHI. I think it is funny that you love shrimp boats because I absolutely adore them also. It epitomizes the coastal regions of the south to me. I am so glad you are back to writing and posting. We missed you!!

Thank you, Cara! Seeing those shrimp boats makes me want to head back to the coast as soon as possible.

My SIL did a dolphin cruise the last time they were in Hilton Head -- one of the ones that depart from Shelter Cove.

Love all your pictures! The one of the lighthouse is beautiful.

It looks like you had a great dolphin cruise.

Love the turtles races! Too cute.

Thank you, Erika! We did have a great time watching the dolphins and the turtles.

Hi jackie!

Again, I'm sorry for your family's loss. I've been thinking about you.

I love this TR, and this latest installment has me hungry for shrimp!!

That picture of the sun looks like a painting, it's so pretty!

Thank you, Julia. I want to get around to ordering a print of the lighthouse and sunset for the kitchen.

A gorgeous Tybee Island sunset.

Beaaaaaaaaaaaautiful!!!! Wow. What an extra treat for taking the evening cruise!

The turtle races are hilarious! :rotfl2: I can just imagine everyone shouting and cheering on their turtles!

Hi Jackie - I also wanted to echo my deep sympathies. I think of you, Charles & the kids every day & I pray things are getting better for all of you.

The turtle races look so FUN!! what a great thing to see. I bet Connor was just beside himself! :)

Hi Jackie. I needed to take a break from the Dis for awhile but I have been thinking about you, since reading your sad news on FB. I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom.

Thank you, Brook! Yes, it was quite spirited in there during the turtle races.

Thank you, Katie. It is so hard -- some days are better than others, but I have to confess that every morning when I wake up one of the first things I think is, "I miss my mom." It's just not the same without her around to talk to.

Thank you, Kelli. Some days it is easier than others to deal with losing her.

Just thought I would post a random update of sorts...

Last weekend was Connor's 12th birthday, so he requested a birthday dinner at our neighborhood Mexican restaurant (that boy loves his Mexican food). He was beside himself when the waiters came out to sing him Happy Birthday! That smile says it all!

001-1.jpg

Chelsea keeps getting older and older despite my admonition to stop doing that. She is on the yearbook staff, and the other morning she came out looking all the world like a budding journalist.

003-1.jpg

Apparently both my dad and I are dealing with our grief by staying extra busy. My dad has bought himself a 1996 red Corvette to restore. It is a beauty and let me just say that a certain teenage girl is thinking she will be allowed to drive it one day. As if! :rotfl: Meanwhile, as some of you may remember, one of the reasons we did not go to Disney this year was the need to paint our house. Well, we started that this past month.

Here is the kitchen. I love that pumpkin color (Brick Oven) and the brown is called Cracker Bitz and will also be in the family room (which we haven't done yet).

001.jpg

The fireplace wall is in Grenadine. I can't wait to really pull out the Halloween decorations next weekend. The silhouette in the black frame is of me when I was about five, and we went to Disneyland.

004.jpg

The dining room which is really my office is also in Grenadine.

002.jpg

While going through pictures, I found this one of Charles on a trip he took to Disneyland in the 1970s. You know I had to display that one.

003.jpg

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Love the paint colors you've chosen - it looks great!

Justin would be all over that red Corvette too, and my response would be the same as yours

I love love LOVE the paint colors you have chosen and I love their names too. I have skipped paint colors before if they have a dumb name. :lmao:

I'm glad you are staying busy, you will have to take some pictures of your dad's corvette!

Happy belated birthday to Connor!!!

I LOVE the paint colors you chose (the grenadine in particular), they look great! :goodvibes

I love the colors you chose for your house. So pretty!
Connor looks thrilled! Next year, you'll have two teenagers in your house. Talk about hormones! :rotfl:

Hope you're having an amazing weekend!

I love Connor's face in that picture! It just says it all in regards to how happy he is to be there.

I love the colors that you've chosen. Very pretty and they seem to fit your decorating very well. I especially love the Grenadine color.

Your Grenadine looks very much like the new color we painted our kitchen. (Red Delicious) Now we are getting a black and white clear glass tile back splash. Finally our two year re-do will be done! I also love your Brick Oven and I could have gone that way in the dining room but decided to go with the other apple color in a green... Now I'm second guessing my decision. Did you say that you are doing the painting yourself?

Beautiful paint colors!! We haven't done any interior updates/painting in quite a while & are probably due... I'll have to keep those colors in mind. :thumbsup2

Love the paint colors! Very warm and rich.

Connor looks so happy at his birthday dinner! happy belated birthday wishes to him!

Hope things are feeling a little better for you. I know you'll never "get over" losing your mom, but it will get easier. Hang in there!

I love the new colors. great job. Chelsea is ready for her new assignment, how to drive a red Corvette.

Happy belated birthday to Connor.:goodvibes

Gorgeous paint choices Jackie - I love them all!

Connor is too cute in his sombrero! Mexican is always my first choice too! Your co-workers comment is too funny "Sorry you lost him already" :lmao: Don't worry - I predict he will stay a nice teenager!

And Chelsea - so cute! When Nick decided to drop French 4 to join the yearbook staff the first question he was asked was, "Do you have a digital camera?". I said - yeah - you can take the old one!
