Does Pixie Dust Help with Decision-Making? A 2012 PTR! NEW! 6/30 pg.85

Hi, everyone! I promise I am still alive and still have a trip planned. Can you believe it has been twelve days since I logged onto the DIS! :scared1: That makes me so sad! However, we have the next four days off, so I definitely plan to do replies and write a new update! I am so looking forward to some downtime here at home!

I completely understand! I hope things have calmed down a bit for you! :goodvibes

Good morning Jackie! Hoping you might find some time to come out & play this weekend... :goodvibes

Hello! I'm not sure if I ever mentioned that I returned to the DIS.. after a long break.. but I have been reading you ptr and am finally all caught up!

When DH and I went last May- we ended up eating at Via Napoli by chance.. and the food was amazing as well as the dessert. I couldn't help but constantly look around at all the cool decor and the staff. It was a great experience. DH had pizza and he said it was good- not amazing.. but mine was delicious.. I posted pictures from it on my FB.. I'm sure you will love this place. :goodvibes

Oh my that dessert looks unbelievably yummy!

Lexi loves cookies & cream anything so I must remember to get her one. :thumbsup2

We tried the Kaki Gori (shaved ice) from Kabuki Cafe on this last trip and it was excellent. We found ourselves new must do.

Disney daydreams are awesome! Sometimes I imagine I am there too! :goodvibes

We haven't tried the Kaki Gori before, but everyone seems to love it. Must remember to stop for some!

:rotfl2:
Ok, sorry to laugh, but I'm so going to remember that soaking up the sunshine comment in July when we are plotting our decent on a table with an umbrella or vying for any slice of shade to hide under.:cool2:
Sorry to invade your daydreaming....:flower3:

LOL! You are right -- I will not want to be basking in the sunshine in July. Hopefully, there will be a table with an umbrella for us!

Don't those gelato creations look awesome??? When I saw those on DFB, I was like "HOW HAVE I MISSED THESE???". You HAVE to get one!! (Or, several! :thumbsup2)

I could probably eat my body weight in them! LOL!

YUM! That looks really good. It actually looks similar to the strawberry sundae at Sonic although I am certain it is much more special than that! However, I suddenly have an urge to go to Sonic and pick one up... sometimes you just have to make do until you can get the real thing.

Do you know we have a Sonic here in town, and we have never eaten there? Must rectify that soon!

Hope things slow down for you and you get that much needed home time. I can relate b/c I am a homebody as well. The only place I can go to for long periods of time without missing home is WDW. Maybe once soccer season ends you'll have more free time.

Sadly, they have not slowed down enough for me. Oh well! I guess I can keep hoping. I know they will after soccer season ends in April.

Oh if only I were in Italy right now....That sounds like a pretty awesome plan Jackie! :)

Italy would be lovely right now!

I want one of these....NOW!

I think that Disney Day Dreaming is the best kind of day dreaming! :)

It keeps me sane, Michelle.

I daydreamed along with you as I read this post. I can't wait for warm weather and gelato!

The sooner, the better! ::yes::

That looks just delish! Thanks for sharing! Now I'm hungry!

I am always hungry when I look at Disney food. LOL!

Disney day dreams are the best.
And that strawberry treat looks amazing!

I could definitely use one right now! Either the daydream or the ice cream. LOL!

Happy planning! It is nice to think of beautiful and bright places on this gray Sunday afternoon.

The strawberry dessert looks delicious. :)

After last night, I would gladly head to Disney for an ice cream treat.

The DIS is driving me crazy right now so I can't even get to your update page, but that little dessert/snack (is that the gelato?) looks freaking AMAZING! I am so getting one of those in June. Thanks for giving me so many great June food ideas!:thumbsup2

Is it just me or has the DIS been running super slow these days? It seems like it takes forever every time I get on.

Mmmmmmmm... :cloud9:

::yes::

Disney Day Dreams are the BEST!

Especially if they involve wine, gelato and Italy!

Though I agree with Anita, your gelato will be a disaster if you are soaking up the July sun. LOL!

Lots of wine and food figure in my Disney dreams. ;)

Ahhh....thanks for sharing your Disney day dream....:cloud9:

Anytime!

Thoae are sone yummy treats!!!

I keep finding others, too, that I want to try.

Italy, wine, and gelato...sounds like a GREAT plan to me! :goodvibes

Can't wait to make that dream a reality!

Thank you with the trip planning help...that is on the top of my must haves in the summer list!

I need to start some summer lists or I will never remember everything.

Ugh, Jackie, I am so behind!! I need to have them unblock the DIS at work because I'd never be behind on anyones TRs then lol

It's cold here today so daydreaming of the warm sunshine in Italy sounds divine. In July, if you could send me up a cup of gelato, that'd be wonderful too. Thanks :thumbsup2 :lmao:

I just need more time to be on the DIS! :goodvibes:goodvibes

Um......I will take both of those please! :)

They would certainly hit the spot today!

Whenever life gets unpleasant I always resort to some "Disney Dreaming". It really helps calm me down and pass some unpleasant time.

Desert helps too!

I agree! After yesterday's bad weather, I am in serious need of Disney Dreaming.

I read this and then tried to "like" it...then I realized I'm on dis not facebook.

I do that all the time on the DIS and in emails! LOL!

Happy Saturday, Jackie! Hope you get to enjoy some down time and do something fun. Work just gets in the way of that too much Monday through Friday. :sad2:

We had snow yesterday toward the end of the school day. It didn't stick, of course, but the kids were excited to see it falling. What about you guys? Did winter find its way to you?

Winter did and then spring, of course, has arrived in full force. Crazy weather.

Hey Jackie,
I hope this weekend finds you able to relax and enjoy some down time!!! Things have been super crazy around here as we start setting up tutorial times for our EOC courses!! (I'm sitting in my room right now with students). I'm happily thinking about sitting in Italy with you enjoying one of those gelato creations!!!!!!

Downtime seems to be a hot commodity right now for me.

I had not read it but just opened it in another window to read. thanks! I can't believe I am only making it back to your TR now from Christmas! Life truly gets hectic!

I agree!

YAY for Disney landmarks & making ADRs! Your ressies sound good. I have only eaten at TRex before. Are you doing the DDP??

No DDP for us -- it is no longer cost effective since the kids are considered adults.

Cute binder! I haven't even started mine yet but usually I do my binder after I am sure I am done changing things:lmao:

Thanks! My poor binder has been feeling neglected lately.

Both of those photos look great! I don't think I've ever even stopped at Via Napoli. sounds like a new destination, right?
Your Ohana pics make me want to do dinner there as well, but we will only get to Kona this trip. Ohana has characters, right? Is this where Lilo & Stitch are? I need to save that one for when Katie is with us.

They only have characters at breakfast.

So funny how very different your perspective is than mine. the food was good though, but I did not enjoy the lighting changes or the volume in the ice room. Though in retrospect I must have been really really tired this night -- my DH and SIL still laugh and joke about how I literally passed out 30 seconds after we got into our rooms, still fully dressed and sprawled across almost the whole bed! :rotfl2: Poor DH did not know if he should wake me or not but opted to let sleeping bears OH I mean SLeeping Beauties of course ...lie.

We haven't eaten there before, so I picked it since it was new and different. Disney can be exhausting!

Wow that's a lot of kids trying out for soccer! what age level??

Middle school -- 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.

FOr sure Walt has some good quotes - I hope you managed to work one in!

Not this time, but he has been known to creep in before.

Your frozen treats look yummy but as I sit in my office with the space heater on, and my Disney sweatshirt all the way down over my fingers, they are making me feel really really cold!!:rotfl:(and hungry for that primavera!)

LOL! Yes, winter is not conducive to ice cream eating.

SO we know where you're eating, where are you playing?[/FONT]popcorn::

I guess I should start planning that, shouldn't I? :goodvibes

Hi Jackie!
Don't you just hate it when life gets in the way of Disney planning? :rotfl:
This point in the school year always seems extra busy. I hope the next 4 days are relaxing!

They were, but they went by too quickly.

12 days is a long time. Did you go into withdrawal?

Glad you have a 4 day weekend to relax and catch up on things. I hope its a wonderful weekend for you and the family! :goodvibes

Is Connor feeling better?

Connor is feeling better, but then Charles and I had it earlier this week. Hopefully, Chelsea escapes from it.

Enjoy your four days off from school, Jackie! Hopefully you'll get to do some Disney planning! :)

Sadly they flew by without any Disney planning. :(

Hi Jackie. I am always daydreaming about Disney. (Mostly at work)! Sometimes I will be waiting on a customer & a certain park comes to mind or I will picture walking down Main St. or walking around AK. I wonder if I am the only one that does this??:rolleyes1

I am guilty of it, too! LOL!

Anyway I hope things calm down for you. I am also a home body (very much so) so I know what you mean. If I do not have to go anyplace on the weekend my vehicle is parked in my garage from Fri. night until Mon. morning. That is unusual though as long as Cody plays indoor soccer which is always on Saturdays.

Not enough home time, but one day, I might be able to say that. LOL!

yay for time off to relax, refresh and DIS!!
:cool1:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:this is me too! i probably DIS more at work than at home:eek:

Almost every day when I walk the dog I think "oh this would be a good day to fly to Disney" or "I wonder what I would do if I were at Disney today?":lmao:

Sadly, this year has been so packed full, I can't DIS at work any more. :(

Yay! Jackie gets some DIS time! Enjoy your time off, get some rest and come and play!!!

I need more time to fit everything in that I want to do. I should be at the grocery store right now, but I decided to do replies instead. ;)

Hope you enjoy some time to rest, Jackie! I know it's hard to be working and going to school as well as all of the family activities and trying to keep up with the house too.

Disney dreaming on a cold afternoon is Winter Survival at it's best! I find myself dreaming of Disney more than Hawaii, which I will be visiting in 2 weeks! :rotfl2:

Hawaii??? How fun! Are you staying at the Disney resort there?

I can really, really relate to being a homebody. I hate being away from my home for long periods. Hang in there Jackie.

Thanks! Home time has become more and more precious.

I completely understand! I hope things have calmed down a bit for you! :goodvibes

Thanks, Brook. They are still pretty busy, but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Good morning Jackie! Hoping you might find some time to come out & play this weekend... :goodvibes

Hi, Amy! I may finally get all caught up on my PTR this weekend. I put it on my to-do list, so that means I have to do it, right?

Hi, Mary Ellen! I am DISing no matter what this weekend! I need it!

Hi, Jen!!! I will definitely go see your FB pictures! :thumbsup2

Awww...hope things have slowed down for you a bit!

Still pretty busy, but I feel like I am just on a regular interstate now instead of the Autobahn. LOL!

Hey Jackie,

Glad to hear things are busy and not crazy busy. Distown is slow because they are changing the host servers. It should be better soon. I forget when Pete said the date for the change was.

School is crazy for me too. We have the start of state testing in a week...

Thank goodness I can escape via thoughts and talks of Disney!

Hi, Debby! Our state-mandated tests are creeping ever closer. This week is nine-week finals and grades due, then we really need to start gearing up for reviewing everything for the CRCT. It happens in mid-April.

Good morning! I finally get a chance to update! (I put the DIS on my to-do list this weekend, so that means I HAVE to update, so I can cross it off. ;))

Even though I have not had a chance to be on here much, I have still been reading all the latest Disney news and thinking about the July trip. I was much dismayed to read the following snippet about Fast Pass times from another website (I have seen it in several places):

“Starting March 7, 2012, it is expected that the FASTPASS return times will now be actively enforced, with a 5 minute early arrival and 15 minute late arrival to be allowed. Anyone arriving outside those times will not be allowed entry to the attraction. The new validity windows will be required for the future roll-out of more advanced NextGen FASTPASS systems, which will require much tighter control of FASTPASS entry than what the current system offers.”

SplashFastPass.jpg

Well, that really throws a wrench into our touring strategies. In the past, we have split our park days into morning park time, an afternoon break, and evening park time. In the morning, we ride attractions and collect FASTPASSES that we can use in the evenings since, in the past, Disney has honored FASTPASSES until the end of the day. It has worked out perfectly for us in that we can then ride a bunch of big attractions in the evening, no matter how big the crowds are.

twidh_0715_fastpass.jpg

Apparently we will no longer be able to do that. How to restructure our plans to make sure we get in all the attractions and rides we want to do? At one of the busiest times of the year?

FastPass_Toy_Story_Mania.jpg

Lately, we have been going down with a non-existent touring plan, but this year, I have a feeling we are going to have to be more structured. I need to sit down and start making our plan of attack.

I feel you pain Jackie!! I tour the exact same way...do the rides I want in the morning and grab fastpasses for later in the day or evening when I go back...now I'm not sure what I'm going to do! We might have to have a powwow LOL!!!!!

Jackie,

I understand completely, and for some reason, I've been avoiding getting my touring plans together. I am certain that this will probably reduce the line at the fastpasses for Toy Story Mania, but I am really, really concerned about what it does to the standby line. I guess time will only tell.

Glad to see an update Jackie!! :thumbsup2 But I'm sorry it's about the stinky new FP enforcement rules! :headache: I'm anxious to see what people report this week as Disney makes the change.

As I wait for an avalanche of homework to be dropped by my online instructor.
I read your update....:goodvibes
Never fear!
We have Ridemax!!!:wizard:

Ta Da!

So glad to have found your new trip report! I love reading trip reports and have followed quite a few usually as a lurker. But, I need to join this powwow too. We'll be arriving POR July 7th! You did score a nice discount for July! We tour the same way, as my gang doesn't to do RD, and we go at a leisurely pace relying on fastpasses. Oh me oh my!

I am waiting see how this FP enforcement will all come down. If they will stick with it or will be a huge disaster.:confused3

I was upset when I heard about the FP also. I guess we do what we can do, use the FP's when we have to & plan. I am anxious to see how it goes also.

Jackie - I did the exact same thing when I visited in the summer. It's much easier to go back in the evening and ride with FP's. It is going to be harder to work around this restriction in June. It's a bummer, but maybe more people will be giving out their unusable FPs.
