Does Owners Locker ever run deals?

I would love to get an OL, but I don't know if I can justify $100 a year. We always fly SW, so I can always get a free checked bag. I would be buying the OL purely for convenience.

I thought last year I remember them running some kind of special, but it may have just been a referral program.

I do know that DVC members get 20% off the one time fee, so I am more asking for discounts on the yearly fee.

TIA!

There are no discounts on the annual fees however we fly from the UK so get free checked luggage and I still wouldn't be without our lockers :thumbsup2

The convience of having all our stuff there far outlays the cost for me - I like not having to remember to pack all the little things. We also store stuff that we like having there but wouldn't necessarily pack in a case. It turns our DVC into our home.

It also saves us money ;) DHs left over beers go in and my left over barcardi goes in to - these would have both gone in the trash previously.

I can't wait for the day our DD stops growing so quickly and we can travel with just carry ons :goodvibes

No deals on the yearly fee, but I will say our OL is invaluable. It makes packing so much easier, no scrambling because we know what we need is already there. Of the many costs of DVC ownership, the OL fee is one I gladly pay.

I do think we will definitely join, I just didn't want to and then find out later that had I waited a bit longer, they would have had some sort of promotion or something.

$100 a year honestly isn't bad. I think I am getting prematurely cheap hoping to pass ROFR this week and seeing all the $$$$ flying out the door in the next few months (years...lol)

Thanks for the info all! :)

we also fly SWA to MCO.
we each have one piece of checked luggage (a collapsible duffle inside), and one carry-on going to WDW - no worry about overweight fees, as the heavy and/or bulky stuff is in our OL. also, our luggage/carry-ons are soooo much easier to pull/carry.

on the way home, we check one duffle each (our 2nd allowed item), filled with those things we picked up (e..g., the F&GF 50% garden decor :cool1:, outlet "stuff", etc), leftover non-perishables (iced tea mix, PB&J), etc.

we were on the fence about getting an OL for years. what finally made us decide:
- worrying about forgetting something on the way there
- worrying about the over 50lb surcharge when leaving
(we prefer stress-free :))
- the cost of shipping things back
those can easily exceed the cost of the OL.

agreed, OL is a convenience, just as cell phones, GPS, PCs, hair dryers, etc are :) - there are ppl that wouldn't need/use any of those. however, the convenience of our OL is something i wouldn't give up so readily. when we consider how much vacations cost, the price of having a OL is minuscule, while the benefits are large :lovestruc

So, talk to me about what you guys keep in there! I started a list a few months back in anticipation of joining, but haven't been back since.

How much really will fit in there after a mini crock pot and a mini keurig. Those are the 2 things I know we would want :)

We keep lots of stuff in ours. Some extra kitchen items that we like to have like a tea pot, permanent coffee filter, "real" pancake turner, bigger cereal bowls, extra outerwear, walking shoes, night clothes, griddle, and full sized shampoos etc. Sometimes we have leftover oatmeal and condiments in there as well as salt, pepper and sugar etc.

How many once a year visitors have an owner's locker and what do you keep in there different from more frequent visitors? We really only hit Disney, on average, once a year. Though, this year we aren't going and it will be about 22 months between visits. While it would be convenient, I'm not sure it's right for our less frequent schedule.

I am interested in how many people have OL who go once a year as well. I love how it seems so convenient yet wonder if its worth it for once a year visits?

I would LOVE to see EVERYONE'S Owner's Locker contents, to fine tune mine. We used to have camping things in there, for long stays in a tent at Ft. Wilderness, but bought into DVC and don't do that often now.

We could literally fly down with carry on's, take ME to the Fort, and stay comfortably for over a week. That OL was a lifesaver! I've often wondered if anyone shares theirs.

Forget a bunker if the world ends... I want to be in the OL facility!

I can't figure out how to get the direct link (I'm on my iPad on the DIS app) but I did a search and I found a thread from 2011 titled "Owner's Locker" in which I posted our OL inventory. There have been others in the past as well where numerous people posted their inventory lists, so you might just try a search.

I planned to be a once a year visitor, although I have ended up going more frequently since I started attending Harry Potter conferences, several of which have been in Orlando.

I DON'T keep any food items, potentially smelly items (sneakers or laundry detergent) or anything with an expiration date.

I DO keep items that make my villa/hotel room seem more like home - tap light for the night stand, alarm clock because I hate the iHome things, electric toothbrush (although I throw out the wet toothbrush head when I leave).

I also keep a bathrobe, a sweatshirt, and flip-flops; I have others at home so I don't miss them. I keep many pairs of Thorlo Thin Cushion Running socks with Coolmax in there. They're really ugly but they prevent blisters, so I think of them as my theme park socks.

Other than that, I probably keep the same things as people who go several times a year (scissors, zip loc bags, etc.).

I love my lockers.

:thumbsup2 DH and I were only going to WDW yearly until we found that DVC changed our trips. Now we like to go twice a year. This year just happens to be a one trip year. DH laughed at me wanting an OL. I work hard I wanted it so I got one. When DH saw all the extra cups, plates, utensils (we usually stay in studios) he changed his tune. Now he has one too. One of the main things he keeps is his "special" blanket. He sleeps under those heavy fannel blankets at home on top of the comforter (yes he is strange). So the first year he had his locker he purchased one in a leopard print for AKL. We call it "the Blanket of Power". Anywho, this past trip I left underwear, two t shirt dresses, two Vera bags and he left a couple of t-shirts. So we are gradually moving to the "store your clothing" scenerio and I can see us getting a third locker for convience and only taking small carry ons. How nice to show up for our SW flight and not have luggage

It is great to get the text that the boxes are waiting on us...

I have all sort of over the counter meds -- immodium, pepto, ibuprofen, moleskin, bandaids. Brita pitcher, water bottles, chargers, binoculars, throw, coffee filters, lanyards, oatmeal, coffee, tea, pasta, microwave popcorn, salt and pepper, cocoa, sewing kit, tshirts, Pal Mickey, batteries, flashlights, small George Foreman grill (studio stayers) beach bag, small back pack, ponchos on and on.

Love to get the text about my OL resting comfortably in the warehouse! :thumbsup2

I am a recent owner and an annual visitor and I can tell you how happy I am to have my locker. I have a Keurig, coffee, Mickey ponchos, Disney beach towels, A&D ointment, moleskin, blister band aids, Mickey band aids, Neosporin, flip flops, swimsuits, two Disney misting fans, Grumpy sweatshirt, Castaway Club backpack, Castaway Cay beach bag, shampoo, conditioner, and oodles of sunscreen. Love my locker!

Well, I'm convinced!

I have been going through tons of old OL threads, and compiled a list - I am definitely signing up as soon as I get a trip planned.

Now I just need to think of a good name ;)

ETA: We are all signed up. Our lockers name is Miss Vanellope von Schweetz :)

Welcome to a new level of convenient vacationing! :thumbsup2

Welcome to a new level of convenient vacationing! :thumbsup2

the one and only complaint we've had:
vacationing anywhere our OL isn't is now such a nuisance :(
you'll see when you start packing suitcases to go elsewhere, and you have to start actually remembering to pack "essentials", thinking about what you may be able to buy while away so you don't have to bring more "stuff", worrying about luggage quantity and weights, heavy carry-ons, etc

OL makes WDW feel like many feel about their 2nd (summer/winter) homes....just pack some clothes and go :thumbsup2

and while at WDW, make sure to stop by the france kiosk, and say "hi" to john & co!

So I have started my list! Can anyone tell me if I am pushing my luck with a mini croc pot, mini keurig, brita slim, 2 brita refillable bottles PLUS all my toiletries? Most of the other items are small, but those are the largest things I can think of :)

THANK YOU!!!

Well if you ever found my list, I can just add that with all that in it, we couldn't fit our mini Keurig. But if you have less other stuff, you would be fine. Don't you have any Rubbermaid containers around your house? You could get a general idea from that, although the OL seems more square I think than the Rubbermaid containers we have. They are a bit taller I'm pretty sure and more rectangular. OL seems shorter and squarer (but I never compared them side by side). John can give you the dimensions. It might even be on the website.
