My daughter will be 26 soon and is going back to college, so she will no longer have heath care coverage under my employer. The forms she has to send in include all family members tax forms. Will her premium cost be based on our income or just her own?

From what I understand, if she is not being claimed as a dependent or claiming anyone else as a dependent on her taxes, her premium should only be based on her own income. Even if she lives with you, a 'household' is really based on how you file your taxes.

I am not an expert by any means, so you might want to double-check that info, but I am pretty positive that is how it works.

Also - not an expert! FWIW I thought everyone is on their own healthcare wise at 26. Is there an exception because she's in college? If not then she's on her own and her total household income is what she and only she makes. Where are forms going? For college fin aid? That's not related to healthcare.

The Affordable Care Act would use her tax information. So if she is a single when she files her taxes then it is her. If she is married or has dependents then it is the combination of that. That is what a "household" is. If she is not claimed as a dependent on other people's taxes (i.e. yours) then she is her own "household".
