I searched for this info on National website and all I see is the free spouse, but it seems to be limited to business purpose. So, I'm assuming you are charged if it is for leisure, but I could not find the cost. Anyone?

If you are a National Emerald Club member, spouse can drive at no additional charge.

If you are Emerald Club, just hand both drivers licences to the attendant at pick up, and you should be OK. Also remember to bring your insurance Statement of Coverage.

Mousesavers has a link for free Emerald Club membership. http://www.mousesavers.com/national.html

Lady Cluck-I'm renting from EA for the first time next month...can you tell me what the insurance statement of coverage is?
Thanks

We have the Emerald Club membership and I just went through the materials and couldn't find anything that said add'l driver was free. I also couldn't find it on the website. Does anyone know where it says that?

I've rented from National many times and have never had to show insurance papers.

Under Emerald Club benefits:

>>>>Authorized Drivers
Authorized Drivers Free (in the United States and Canada) - An Emerald Club member's spouse, immediate family member living with him/her, business partner, employer, or fellow associate who drives the car for business purposes. All other additional authorized driver situations are subject to a daily charge. Click here for our policy on additional drivers.<<<<<

I think "business purposes" only refers to "fellow associate" (which I think means coworker).

Sorry, I don't know --- haven't looked for it for several years. When I first joined EC, it didn't look too clear to me, so I called and was told that there's no charge for spouse or business associates for EC members.

I've had a free EC membership for ~ 8 years, and DH always drives. We use National 1-2 x/year at Disney. When we leave, he hands the person my card, his license, the coupon and the confirmation. And then we're off. There's never been any discussion.
