We are Disney bound in 3 weeks and I was told to get a drs note for my son's illness so he can get the gac or what it's called now. I know Disney is doing things differently but is a drs note necessary or can I just tell them the name of his disease and what his limitations are? He will need a stroller as a wheelchair through rides. We've done that before. Do they still do this? He is 4 and cannot walk long distances. He tires very easily. Thanks.

You won't need a doctor's note, and in fact, they won't even look at one if you bring it.

You need to discuss his needs, not his diagnosis. If all you need is stroller as a wheelchair, which based on what you've said, sounds like it will accommodate him, you won't need to get a DAS.

You don't need a doctors note. You'll need to explain his needs to guest relations, not the diagnosis. The new card is a DAS.

There is a sticky FAQ that I recommend looking at. It will answer your questions, and give you full insight into the new program.

Agreeing with PP's -- no Dr note required and probably will not be read even if you bring one. DAS is need-based, not diagnosis-based.

For the stroller-as-wheelchair tag, you can request that from Guest Relations. Explain why your son needs to remain in his stroller while in queues. This is separate from the DAS.

Here is a link to the WDW DAS sticky -- if you also wish to request a DAS in addition to the stroller tag, you will have to discuss your son's needs as related to waiting in a standard queue. This should also include why the stroller tag will not solve his needs.

Enjoy your vacation!

Does he have needs that the stroller doesn't meet? Otherwise you just need to request a stroller as wheelchair tag.
