Does MS tell you when your waitlist comes through ?

Booked a ressie for my DD's at OKW and waitlisted for "near Hospitality" and then forgot about it.

My oldest DD went to do on-line checkin and found that the ressie had been cancelled...once she "came to" and stopped hyperventalating, she was able to determine that MS had in deed cancelled their old ressie and re-booked them "near hospitality" on another reservation.

Is it normal that MS does not notify you when your waitlist comes through ?

I always get a reservation confirmation email when my waitlist comes through.

We had a reservation for two different resorts and was waitlisted for one section of our trip. MS cancelled all of our trip when the waitlist came through for only a few of the days and did not send an email. Luckily, I was checking on my own and caught the fact that they cancelled part of our trip that we still needed. I called and was able to get back the unit I wanted, but I hate to think what it would have been like if it was a busy time of year.

So no, they don't always send an email, but they are supposed to.

In recent years, they started sending an email link to the reservation whenever any changes occur. The email does not contain any specific travel information and it looks rather generic. It contains a confirmation number, "thanks for booking" message and a link to the actual reservation details on the website.

If you get one of those messages seemingly at random, it usually means a change occurred. That change could be the waitlist request being met.

Of course if you have trouble receiving messages from DVC, it may never arrive. They do not call or otherwise alert members to reservation changes.

I had one come through a couple of months ago and never received any email and since it was in my daughter's name (member on my contract), I checked with her and she didn't receive an email either. I had one for myself come through a few months ago for my upcoming trip and did receive an email. So it's inconsistent to say the least.

I've had it happen both ways. Most recently I've received e-mails whereas in the past it could go either way.

They don't phone but they do email when a WL goes through... the email though doesn't specify waitlist, what you essentially get is an email of a reservation being made for you.

I have never received an email. In all cases I've checked online to learn about a waitlist coming through.

I had a WL come through last fall, but I wasn't sent any sort of notification. I just noticed the change in my online vacation center.
