Since my dad is a DVC member we almost always stay at a DVC resort. We always end up with too many snacks, drinks, sticks of butter, etc. Anyone know what happens with the left over stuff? I hate when things go to waste.

If I were to hazard a guess I'd think if it's in packaging it may be donated or maybe set out in the breakroom? Just guessing here.

When I asked a few years ago, I was told that in order for mousekeeping to keep the leftovers I needed to leave them a signed note telling them the could have them.

I'm not sure but I have a story that's related.

On my trip last fall I was staying at the AKL as it's a favorite of ours. My girlfriend and I always make sure to make eye contact with any mousekeeper that we see in the hallways and to say hello, have a great day, etc. Well one day we are walking down the hall toward the lobby and we pass a mousekeeper outside of a room that she is cleaning. We look to her, smile and say hello. She smiles back and says hello back. (I'll point out here that she was Spanish/Latino and I'm not sure how well she spoke English). As we start to walk past her, she says to us "excuse, would you like?". I turn around to see her holding a garbage bag in her hands with something in it. I was confused as to why she was asking us if we wanted a garbage bag, but I decided to take it from her hand and to look inside. Well low and behold inside the bag were six cans of ice cold Heineken Beer...:) I guess the previous guests had left it, as it was mid morning. I gave her a big smile and said "yes, that is very kind of you, thank you very much". She smiled back as us and said "your welcome". So I'm not sure what company policy is, but I really appreciated the kindness and consideration that she showed us. My girlfriend laughed and said to me as we walked back to our room to put the beer in the Fridge, "I guess you look like you drink beer". I laughed and said "no, I look like I drink really good beer". The next day we saw her again in the hallway and handed her an envelope with a thank you card and a tip and told her thanks once again. (My girlfriend brings thank you cards and envelopes for the mousekeepers whenever we vacation).
