Does the ride "Mission Space" make you feel sick?

  • No, not at all.

  • Just a little bit.

  • Yes, but only the "more intense" does.

  • Yes, both "less intense" and "more intense" make me feel sick.

  • YES. I had to run to the bathroom to vomit after getting off this ride.

When I was at Epcot, I noticed a lot of people who got off Mission Space looked ill. So, I was curious as to how many of you got sick on this ride as well.

[EDIT] Forgot to answer my own question, haha. Mission Space did not make me sick. I went on "Less Intense" and then "More Intense" and neither made me feel sick. A little dizzy, yes, but it wore off quickly. My boyfriend, on the other hand, had to lay down for a while after he got off. I really liked this ride. It made me feel like I was in space! The g-forces felt awesome :)

I get dizzy getting off, like I'm still spinning, but thats all. It wears off as I walk out.

I love thrill rides. I was apprehensive about going on MS b/c of all the reviews I have read about people getting sick on it. I went on it last Dec. and really had a ball, rode it twice in a row, and no I did not feel sick at all.

This ride made me so sick I had to go back to the resort and lay down for 4 hours, definately not on my "to do" list anymore.

I don't handle the intense version well. When the spaceship is taking off with those G forces - my head hurts, my stomache hurts, and I just generally feel very uncomfortable and I start wishing it will stop! After the ride, sometimes I have had a headache for the rest of the day. Unless my nieces are absolutely begging me to do the intense, I only will do the gentle now. I was very pleased when they offered this option! :teeth:

I also admit I get very sick on airplanes, too - I just don't handle these kind of motions well, I guess!

I went on Mission:Space two times in a row, right after eating lunch at Mexico, and I didn't feel a thing. I never get motion sickness though. And it takes A LOT for me to get sick.

I did the "intense" side when it first opened, I was disoriented for a couple hours, never again. When they opened the "mild" side (whatever it is called), I was OK.

No, not at all. As long as you look straight ahead at the screen and interact & play along with the storyline, you won't feel it; at least I never have. The only time i've gotten a little dizzy is when I tried to look to the side for a few seconds; that's a big no no in a centrifuge.

I went on this ride when it first came out, DH made me do it! I was so sick I thought I was going to die. I had to run to the ladies room for a bit. Then I had to sit in on a bench for a while sipping cool water. I felt awful the entire day.

Can you say never again?!

First time we did it, my boys (who were 6 at the time) were fine, my girls were 10 & 15..10 year old fine, 15 year old, me & hubby all sick. We were not getting sick but we were "off" all day after that. Never quite got it back and didn't eat dinner hours later due to it. Next time we went dd 12 & hubby did it again against my wishes and hubby once again sick 12 yo fine. Then dd & I went a few years back and did the less intense, winner!! We all did it last time we went and no problems with anyone. I don't usually get sick on rides as a matter of fact I never did in my life, but this made me feel weird like I had some kind of inner ear off balance thing that made my head feel full and stomach not cooperating.

I love roller coasters, but no ride at DW as ever made me feel bad except this one.
It's hard to explain, it's not like I was wanting to 'throw up' or anything like while on the ride, but the 'more intense' version left me feeling bad for the rest of the day. Wanted to like it so tried it on another day and it was the same deal. As far as I'm concerned they can put another RNR or TOT or EE there.
But, the way I look at it, it's more room for the people that like it!

Not at all. But it I planned a grilfriend tripped and I begged my GF to go on and she knew she shouldn't have and it turn out pretty bad. She was quite green when she got off. We ended up leaving the park after the ride because she couldn't shake the sickness. Our husbands had a good laugh about it when we got home.

I rode the Orange version (only version at that time) and made it through the ride OK, then when I got off I felt bad although not bad enough to vomit. Took me two hour to get re-adjusted although I was able to do some of the games in the pavilion during that time. A "never again" ride for me.

Before riding I was asking nearby CM's how many "G"'s the ride imposed. No one could or would tell me.

Don't pull Superman's cape. Don't spit into the wind. Don't ... (tape garbled) ... Lone Ranger and you don't mess around with Jim
Do the air sickness bags work OK? Seems like with the spinning action, you will get it all back in your face.

DS11 and I love Mission Space, the intense version. It's a must ride on every tirp!

My wife has been on the ride a few times, but it's not her favorite, more because of the claustrophobic feeling, not the spinning.

DD17 is not a fan of Mission Space at all.

Love this ride, although I can totally see where it may not be for everyone. I have a pretty strong stomach and handled it ok, although I will admit it was intense. Just keep looking straight ahead like they suggest, seriously! Don't even look down at the buttons so you know which one to push when your turn comes. The "computer" will over ride the selection if you don't, so ultimately it doesn't affect the ride. Oh yeah, don't forget to breathe!

I've been doing M:S since the day it officially opened. Loved the original side. It does bother my dh though...gives him a headache if he rides it twice in a row...so he would sit it out while dd and I went back again.
Then, there was the day I ate lunch at the Electric Umbrella. Then, we ambled on over to M:S...waited in line for about 25 mins. We got in our capsule...as that puppy wound up, my lunch started winding up too.....it was completely 'mind over matter' (quite literally) that time. As we launched, I could just feel my lunch trying to launch itself. Man, that was uncomfortable. But, other than that one time, I've had no issues at all. Now, I try to remember to leave at least an hour between eating and M:S!!!

I felt queasy the first time I was in but that was more me than the ride. I usually don't get motion sickness and I'm not claustrophobic. But the ride had already received a lot of negative press so I was nervous about that. And the barf bags...first time I've ever been on a ride that supplied barf bags.

Now that the uncertainty is over, I can handle it just fine. Now I only get nervous if I'm sitting next to a total stranger and not someone I know and can trust to hold their cookies.
