Does Kona = Best Adults-Only Breakfast?

I've been going round and round with the menus. I had narrowed it down to two choices for the one breakfast ADR I want to make - Boma or Kona. We don't have kids and we aren't interested in character experiences.

Based on the menu, I finally chose Kona. I figured I might have a better chance of chef input there over the buffet at Boma (I'm diabetic and will need menu modifications). I also figured it might be quieter/less hectic because there's no buffet line to fight and and there aren't characters to draw in kids.

Did I make the right choice? Is this what you would consider the best adults-only place for breakfast, based on atmosphere, food, and chef interaction?

All opinions/suggestions/experiences welcome. :thanks:

Last time we stayed at the poly we went to Kona alot for breakfast. We never had a ressie, the food was great, it was laid back and the waitors were excellent. We plan on doing the same this time around :wizard:

My top 3 breakfasts at WDW - adults only or not:

1. Kouzzina
2. Kona
3. The Wave for their buffet, but they also have a regular menu

Of the 3, Kona is the noisiest - so it depends on what kind of vibe you are looking for. At popular times - I find Kona to be super bustling and VERY loud due to its open architecture right next to the Poly lobby. The Wave was very quiet when we were there for breakfast, but it was an off-hour. Kouzzina can be kind of in-between - and obviously, it's at the Boardwalk, so that may not be convenient for you.

I like Kona and would recommend it, but I love Boma also. I cannot eat gluten and both were excellent at coming and explaining what I could and could not eat. Don't let your diabetes keep you from Boma. The chef can and will come out and talk to you and take you around and show you what you can and cannot eat with all food restrictions. I think you can't really go wrong with any of them, but I just wanted to let you know that chef interaction is not an issue if you let them know.

I've had both Boma and Kona for breakfast and Kona wins hands down.

Kona is a smaller restaurant and not nearly has crowded as Boma. There are no buffet lines to contend with at Kona and since you are ordering by the plate, the price will be much smaller if you are not using the DDP.

Enjoy your meal there. My favorite is the pineapple macademia nut pancakes.

I like Kouzzina the most. We've loved everything we've tried for breakfast there, plus the bloody Marys are excellent. Atmosphere is pretty nice and service is attentive. I think Kona is something you should try at the very least to get it out of your system. Breakfast is passable (dinner is where they really shine) but atmosphere is non-existent. The restaurant is open to the entire Grand Ceremonial House and only partitioned off by waist-high metal rails. I feel like it has as much ambiance as dining in an airport food court. Or a fish bowl.

I love your description. I never thought about it, but you are right. Kona does not have the great Disney atmosphere, does it? I love the dinner. It is definitely one meal I would book but it is definitely not for the atmosphere.

We'll make it to Kona one of these days. The food in the pics looks amazing!

My DBF is not a breakfast person where I am... for our Nov trip we have only two plans for both of us to have breakfast together -

1. Cinnamon roll from the Main Street Bakery
2. Kona

Other days I'll get QS at the hotel or in the park

I read him the Kona menu and he loved just about all the non-egg related meals (He hates eggs with a passion!)...

Never been to Kona, but went to Boma with an allergic child. Even though they were somewhat busy, the chef came out and talked to us, and was quite willing to help us with anything we needed :)

Next time we go, will have 2 allergic children (with two different allergies), and have no issue going to any ts meal at wdw, as they handle special diets magnificently!

I think the best breakfast is at the Grand Floridian Cafe, and am surprised that it hasn't been mentioned. Kona is also great, and those two would be my top choices that aren't character meals or buffets. You can get steak and eggs, eggs benedict, etc at the GF Cafe.

The Grand Floridian Café is my second favorite, right behind Kouzzina.
