I read this and immediately remembered how sweltering it was at AK. I will make sure and limit my time here in September!

...it makes NO sense at all to me
...but I always get just exhausted and hot when I'm there!

Disney Doll said:I think it's warmer because the foliage is dense, to resemble Africa, the rainforest etc., and it holds in the heat and moisture.
CanadianGuy said:The bit I heard about this.. went further than the foliage.. The land is actually at a lower elevation and the geographic features that surround the park tend to make it warmer. This was done intentionally for the benefit of the animals AND plants that would be in the park.

I know that this can't be true, but my friends and I have always joked that the "magic" behind Disney made it hotter to give you the REAL feeling of being out on a "safari". Of course, this wouldn't explain all of the parts of the park being so hot (since Everest is a cold mountain), but hey, it's fun to pretend that's the reason!
I'm sure the real truth of the matter is that the attractions are so spread out and there is a lack of air conditioned gift shops, that you have to walk what seems like miles to get anywhere. Has anyone else felt this way?
