I am looking to stay only one night at the Polynesian in October 2009 (on the 11th, a Sunday) for my anniversary. In the past I have only stayed at moderates. Pricing out the trip on the disney website it quoted a cost of $400-500 per night (for the basic room).

Am I naive or is that really how much a night there costs? That is more than the cost of my entire family's airfare! Maybe (hopefully) it was just the rack rate?

Any ideas out there if this is correct or not or any tips I can use to get that price down? In this economy I can't justify paying that much money for a hotel room, anniversary or not!

Sounds right. Thats regular season. Just hope a code comes out for that time

That is rack rate. There might be a discount but it will all depend on the Disney. But it will still be up there. Disney is not offering deals on Deluxes like they used to. In 2004 I paid $300 a night for conceirge. That'll never probably happen again. After I returned for 4 nights I thought I could have stayed a whole month at All Stars for what I just paid. At that time is was $49 a night FL Resident rate.

You are booking on a regular season rate, try booking the value season rate which is for a "garden view" at the polynesian $ 355 p/night for 2009 rates. The following are the dates for the value season rate.

Value Season: Jan. 1 - Feb 12; Jul. 19 - Oct. 1; Nov. 29 - Dec. 17

Good luck!!!!

I would not pay that much for any deluxe room. We paid $225 a night for a Poly MK water view room this past Aug and for our Jan trip $259 a night for a garden view.
