Does it make more sense to drive to the parks or take DW transportation?

We are driving to DW and staying at WL. :yay: We have 2 days at MK which I've been told is about a 5-10 minute boatride from WL. We also are going to AK, HS and Epcot for one day each. Would it be quicker for us to drive to those parks or take disney transportation? We are going the week of Dec. 6-10.

Also, if taking DW transportation how do I get to each park from WL?
Thanks in advance.

Besides the boat to the Magic Kingdom the Wilderness Lodge also has a bus which goes there, so you have two options to choose from. Now when using the Disney buses to the other parks you can find them at the Wilderness Lodge bus stop. Finally driving to the other parks would be faster then using the Disney buses and you get free parking since your staying onsite, although if everything goes well in terms of waiting the buses can also be good and you won't need to worry about your car.

WDW transportation for sure! Then you don't have to worry about finding your car or a place to park or walking around lot after lot. It just makes the whole vacation more stress-free, plus the boats and monorails have scenic views of the resorts and parks.

I have to drive 50 weeks of the year. When I arrive at WDW that thing stays parked until it's time to go home. WDW transportation will get you anywhere on property. If you drive to the parks you have to park, take a tram to the gate, etc. Enjoy letting someone else do the driving.

It depends on how much of a tolerance you have for the busses. Nothing is worse than being jammed in and having to stand, especially at the end of the day. WL does not have a dedicated bus, I believe you will also stop at the Poly and GF.

I would take the boat to MK, that is usually not crowded.

For the reasons PP mentions, I drive - except to MK, as the parking there isn't convenient.

I don't have a commute to work everyday so we always drive to the parks from WL....except for MK. I do love the boat transportation to the MK.

Eh? You're directed to a very specific parking spot unless it's really late in the day in which case you're directed to a row that has parking spots. There are numbers at the end of each row, just snap a picture of the number and head in to the park. Easy peasy.

From WL you have to take a bus to Epcot/DHS/AK, there aren't any boats or monorails ;) I always boat to MK from WL, but you have to take a boat/monorail/bus to get to the MK because of the TTC.

Anyway, I always vote car. You always have a seat to sit in that you don't have to wait for, and it's almost always faster than the bus.

I would also vote for driving your own vehicle. After one day of waiting to get on cramped busses, we decided to rent a car and loved it. The parking lots had open-air shuttle vehicles that took us to our car/park and we found it to be handy. But I will say both options have pros and cons and is ultimately a personal preference:goodvibes

If you do decide to drive, program the parks and resorts into your GPS before leaving. You'll be glad that you did.

We always drive to every park but the MK, so we can leave at our convenience. The last trip, we stayed at AKV and took the bus to the Magic Kingdom, which we regretted wholeheartedly. We left as the park closed, and waited for over an hour for enough busses to take everyone back to the resort. We will have to rethink that strategy next time.

I'll take as many busses as I can get. Buses, on the other hand I can take or leave.

(Sorry, I couldn't resist):dance3:

Must be early. I had to read that a couple of times before I got it. That there's funny. Can't make stuff like that up.

We drive everywhere--even to the MK. Gives us lots of options if we decide(as we often do) to leave the parks and go somewhere other than back to our resort.

You are going at a slow time of year and the parks will close fairly early. If you drive you could eat a meal or two offsite. also if you have a resort dining reservation your life will be so much easier. Going resort to resort on Disney transportation is a miserable potentially long endeavor.

On the iPhone/iPad/iPod there is an app called TWiz that makes getting around with Disney Transportation much, much easier. It also gives you the times.
