crockpot or slow cooker you use.

I have a 6 qt slow cooker - with the kids moved out it is only DH and I.

I have been looking for slow cooker recipes for the 2 of us and many of them recommend a 3 1/2 qt - 4 qt slow cooker. I really don't want to buy a new one.

Does it matter? Can I somehow make the 6qt smaller?

Thanks!!

Actually it does matter. I would recommend making a double batch and freezing if you don't want to buy a new one. Slow-cooker/crockpots need to be at least 1/2 filled to work properly. Hope this helps. :)

I have used my larger slow cooker for smaller amounts, it cooks quite fast and a bit drier.

Smaller ones can be found as loss leaders fairly often, keep an eye out because I do believe as stated they work best when fuller. Certainly work slower, which is kind of the point:goodvibes
