Does it help to check on waitlist?

We're waitlisted for night 5 of our 6 night stay at BWV. It's a Thursday night during F&W. I'm assuming it's not available because people probably tend to stay Sun-Fri & Thurs-Sun. Does it help to call MS & check to see if a room has become available or should I just sit tight and hope the system matches us up with an available room?

Some have posted success when calling to check. Some have posted that they call daily, that seems over kill to me.

Oh I'm with you, calling daily would be overkill. I'm thinking just every couple of weeks or so. I like to settle into our room for the week so the thought of packing up and moving to another resort is driving me crazy especially for just one night.

I would call back to verify the waitlist was set up correctly. I've had problems with waitlists that were set up for the wrong room size or wrong booking category.

Good advice! I called one day to get nights 1-4 and then had to call back a few days later to get the remaining nights because of the waitlist. When I called back, the girl had me on hold for 8 mins and told me I needed to buy points. She had added a night to my vacation that I didn't want. After another 5-7 mins on hold, she said she had everything figured out and it all looks good on the member site, but I have been wondering about my waitlist. I think I'll call right now just to be sure the waitlist is set up correctly.

I called & checked on our waitlist. The waitlist is correct & there is nothing available at this time.

3 yrs ago, when you could waitlist one night at a time and didn't have to wait for the whole block, I had great luck calling. Now I still have decent luck and resist the temptation to call and check. I am waiting on 1 night at the end of our trip..I only added it last minute b/c I had points in holding to use. If it doesn't come through it's no big deal b/c we will just drive home in 2.5 days instead of 2. I doubt it will though b/c it's for a value studio at AKL. It can't hurt to call every now and then though!
