Does it bother you when people say "disneyland" instead of "disneyworld"?

That is one of my pet peeves. And usually correcting them doesn't do any good.

I correct people all the time. I feel guilty when I do it, but I can't help myself. :rotfl:
Like when people call Spaceship Earth, the golf ball. That drives me crazier than anything! But that's just me being obsessive compulsive about WDW.
I wish everyone loved it as much as we do.
(then again, it would be real crowded, wouldn't it :rotfl: )

or when people refer to the Magic Kingdom as DisneyWorld. Then you try to explain it to them, and they still do it  .

I tell people we are going to Disneyworld and they say Oh I've never been to California before :confused3 My son calls Spaceship Earth the igloo.

Me too! I have a compulsive need to say DisneyLAND is in California and DisneyWORLD is in Florida. I know it sounds snotty but I mean it in the nicest possible way! I also have a friend who went to WDW with me for the first time when we were 15. I ran into her in the grocery store and she said she was going and I asked her which parks they were going to and she said Disney World, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot. I was able to manage to keep my mouth shut but I told her she should come over so we can plan her trip. I can secretly educate her at the same time! :rotfl:

It bugs me too....but I just caught myself saying it this weekend!!!! BAD WDW FAN! I quickly corrected myself....it was just in conversation with DH...Don't know where that came from...maybe because we're doing to DL in October for the first time :rotfl:

Thats the one that gets to me. ;) Ive learned not to try to explain anymore. ;)
Someone recently did that in front of DH and myself. I was going nuts inside and DH knew it was killing me. He had to stop from laughing. When they left the house DH told me I controlled myself well. :rotfl:

I had just the OPPOSITE problem when we went to Disneyland two years ago. I can't tell you how many people "corrected" me and said that it was "Disneyworld." (Like I didn't know where I was going!) I had to say, "No. DisneyLAND in California."

So, before you get overzealous in correcting people, make sure they really are referring to Florida. ;)

I'm a travel agent and when people call and say they want Disney pricing I always have to clarify DisneyWORLD in FL or DisneyLAND in CA. Most of the time they are saying DisneyLAND when they mean DisneyWORLD. It's pretty annoying after the 10th time by 2pm! :rotfl:

People are ALWAYS saying Disneyworld when they mean Magic Kingdom, I actually hate that more then the world or land thing.... :earsboy:

Guilty as charged! I try not to do this, but it slips out. To me the MK is WDW! Please don't shoot!

I can actually understand calling MK WDW...after all, once upon a time, MK *was* WDW, back when there was only one park. But it does sound funny nowadays when the whole resort is WDW!

The Disney World/ Disneyland thing bugs the heck out of me though. They are on 2 entirely different sides of the country!

I don't let that bother me, they don't know and it's not their fault. No big deal. I sometimes just ask them which one- one in Cali or one in Florida? Then I'll know what they are talking about.

It drives me nuts! And yeah, correcting them doesn't do any good. My friends do it all the time!

Hello,

In the uk people generally dont even know there is a DisneyLand in California they think it begins and ends with Florida so the Land/World thing isnt a problem.

BUT I do get annoyed when the Disneyworld thing comes up as a reference to Magic Kingdom!

Am I there yet...... ? :sunny:

aha
in my english class there is a made up leaflet called COME TO DISNEYLAND FLORIDA
then underneath it says millions of people come every day and they have floads of thrilling rides including big thunder mountain railroad, the hulk, test track and the most thrilling of them all....space mountain
i think that person should have reseached 1st (or come on here)

No the messing up of which park is which doesn't bug me. Some people have never been to either Disneyland or WDW.

I do have a funny pet peeve though. It bugs me SO MUCH when people spell Disneyland....Disney Land. It's like nails on a chalkboard for me!

Thank goodness I'm not the only one. It drives me absolutely insane. "It's all the same isn't it?" That's what I keep hearing. There should really be some sort of pamphlet we can hand out to these poor folks.
