Does it bother you to eat by yourself?

If given the choice, I prefer to eat with someone

Having said that, I won't freak if I have to eat by myself

I eat lunch alone all the time. I read a book. I travel a fair amount for work, and often have to eat out by myself. A good book is my friend. I do feel very uncomfortable at a sit-down restaurant if I don't have something to read though.

I like to be alone, I crack myself up

I've done that many times before and it didn't bother me.:)

Me too! I love eating by myself in a restaurant...I bring a book and sit in peace and quit and read and eat! I took a vacation to the Bahamas alone for a whole week and loved it! No one to have to do things with or do what they want to do, eat when I wanted, got up when I wanted..hung out at the beach and pool all day long and just relaxed!

I always ate alone at work - at my desk - while working. There really wasn't much choice. Our department was like the chain gang of the company. While the rest of the office sauntered out the door to Applebee's or even the company lunchroom - there we sat, eating our Ramen noodle soup and plugging away.

But in general, I like eating by myself anyway.:D

It doesn't really matter to me. At work, we eat at the consoles while we work and don't get meal periods (shifts). That doesn't exactly promote healthy eating, though.

I remember reading once about an actor (I think it was Robert Redford) who felt nobody should have to eat alone. Supposedly, he even asked a man to join him and his son because he felt bad seeing him eating by himself.

I guess everyone has their reasons, either way. If you think about it, a lot about how we eat these days has changed, and not necessarily for the better. The days when families routinely sit down together for meals seems a thing of the past.

I used to read the paper with my lunch in my office.

I am another one who does not go into a restaurant by myself.

I eat alone a lot at lunch. I used to come home most days, but when I started on WISH I started bringing my lunch to work. I'll eat at my desk and get DIS time!

As for eating alone in a sit down place - no problem. I've traveled enough by myself that it doesn't bother me. Don't do it as much since I've been married and we don't even eat out together much (we're really homebodies) but it wouldn't bother me.

I like having company when I eat, but it doesn't bother me to eat alone - in private or at a restaurant. I work third shift and I am alone for most of that shift, so I always eat alone at work. The last time I traveled for work, I ordered room service quite a bit and ate many meals in my hotel room because when I ate in the restaurant, it was hard to get the wait staff to notice me (so I could get refills on drinks, get my check, etc.). They were usually busy with larger parties and the service for me by myself suffered. When I had my meals delivered, the service was always great!

Absolutely not.

Fast food, sit down restaurants, even really nice places... no problem eating by myself. The only places that would give me pause would be the truly "coupley" restaurants out there-- i.e. Victoria and Alberts.

No problems going to the movies or the theater or (obviously) on vacation by myself either. Why should I miss out on things just because I don't have someone to go with??

I loved eating alone now. It use to bother me that people would not eat lunch me. Now I don't care. I can go to my favoite food place and have a nice meal.

I like to DIS or read while I'm eating....
I don't like to eat out a restaurant though....I admire the people who do!

Doesn't bother me a bit. In fact, most of my trips to WDW are solo and I eat a lot of my meals "alone".

I sort of wish it bothered me to eat alone. Perhaps if it did I wouldn't eat too much ;)

I don't mind it, I wouldn't want to go to a real sit down restaurant and eat alone. I have a friend who'll go to the movies alone, that just seems so lonely to me.

I like to spend time with myself. I don't mind eating by myself at all. I enjoy it. It doesn't scare me at all. Some people really freak about this. I also like to go to the movies by myself. Friends think i am odd for that one. I like it.

I love eating by myself in the classroom. If anything I need to rest my voice!!:teeth:

If I had the choice, I'd probably prefer to eat with someone - but I have no problem eating out when I'm alone.

I also go to the movies alone - I actually prefer it. My time with friends (and even dh) without kids is very rare. I'd rather spend our time together talking. Years ago, a friend and I spent weeks planning in order to find a time to go to the movie together. We met there and then had to go right home afterwards. I decided I'd never do that again - it would have made so much more sense to see it seperately then spend our two hours together chatting about it over coffee.
