does home resort matter when switching resorts

I have a question. I hope someone can help answer. When calling at the 7month window to change your reservation, does it matter which resort you are giving up??? In other words would someone who owns BCV have more power switching over someone who owns at OKW or VB? I am looking into purchasing a membership and want to make the right decision so it is easiest to switch and eventually try all of the resorts.
Thanks

Welcome to the DIS. It should not matter. :Pinkbounc

Hi iluvvacay :wave2:
It does not matter at all which resort you are giving up---no resort carries more trading power than any other. With that being said, it tends to be easier trading into OKW because it's a larger resort and has more available rooms---though it can be tough getting those Grand Villas at times from what I hear. Trading into BWV/BCV during popular DVC times such as around the Food and Wine Festival or early Dec could prove tough. VWL is also very popular during December and it's a relatively small resort so it books up quickly. I have had alot of luck trading into BWV/BCV/VWL during the summer months....even at less than 60 days on occasion but Oct/Nov/Dec could prove tough to trade into these.
So if you're heart is really set on staying at a certain resort, you should buy there. There are no guarantees you will be able to get into certain resorts during certain time periods. Good luck on your impending DVC purchase and visit us over at the DVC boards if you have any further questions. The mod may even move this thread over there.

WELCOME HOME.

I just became a DVC member myself in June, and was told by our agent that if we thought we would prefer another resort, we should buy the one we wanted because you can register earlier for your vacation plans. We bought SSR because we don't really go for the rooms that much anyway, we're there for to see the Mouse.
