Does having a value dedicated studio booked at AKV eliminate parking lot view?

If I'm reading LisaS's map correctly, it looks like having a value dedicated studio booked ensures either a savanna or pool view, thus, eliminating the possiblilty of a parking lot view.

Is this correct?

If so, is a dedicated studio a booking category? Can I call and request a dedicated studio and have that listed on my confirmation?

That is the way I understand it. According to the thread below, you are correct. I did request a dedicated value studio for december. When I recieved my confirmation letter, it stated ded. value studio.
50% chance of getting savanna view, 50% chance of pool view, 0% parking lot view. Of course this is if front desk has any clue upon check in.

Good spot, I'll file that one amongst the fluff between my ears for later use :)

I agree that we need some real data before we can say a reservation for a dedicated studio is a guarantee of avoiding a parking lot view. I hope that the room assigner and the front desk will respect the difference between a dedicated and a lockoff studio. I also hope they will not "cave" when someone who does not have a dedicated studio reserved ends up getting one when they complain to the front desk about the parking lot view, leaving the last guest who checks in with that view, regardless of what is written on their confirmation letter. I've only seen one report so far where someone booked a dedicated and got a lockoff but that was in the Savanna View category, not the Value.

Do the dedicated rooms get you a bit more space because something can be put in front of where the door would be in a lock-off?

Most of the dedicated studios have a small closet where the connecting door would have been.

Our dedicated Value studio did have a closet, and was a SV.
We arrived quite late(left Detroit during snow storm, and sat on runway for 2 hours), and still got the dedicated and SV.
Unfortunately, we moved the next day into a SV room, and had NO closet, I really missed it. I wish I could have stayed in the Value View( at a reduced points cost) also because the SV room had a superb view of construction:headache:

Oh, man. I am so bummed!! I just called to request the dedicated value studio and they said that it was a booking category!!! UGH:headache: :headache: The reason that I'm so upset is that I called day by day at 11 months out for 7 days to get the value studio:sad1: :sad1: Knowledge is power - I will definately sign up for the dedicated studio for next time. I guess I didn't know as much as I thought I did about Disney:rolleyes1
PS. I guess what really bothers me is that now I have a chance of getting a parking lot view (whereas with the dedicated there are no parking lot views) even though I made my ressie and request for savanna at exactly 11 months out. Here's hoping for a savanah or at least a pool view:sad2:

Can anyone confirm there are parking lot dvc rooms? I've walked past the rooms on the 5th floor that would face the parking lot and none of them have a dvc marker above the room number. I took that as they are not dvc rooms.

I had a value studio that faced the savannah, and there definitely were value DVC rooms across the hall and they would have faced the parking lot.

"Ronald Duck" merged my AKV Units map with an aerial photo of Jambo House to create this new map! (Originally posted here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=24678438) Unit 52 in the lower left of the map is made up of two 2BR lockoffs that face the parking lot. The other parking lot facing rooms on the 5th floor are not part of AKV, they are still part of AKL.

We were just there at the end of March and I had 2 dedicated value studios. I requested sv and that they be close together if possible. We checked in early and got one sav view and one pool view. Needless to say they weren't that close together but at least neither one was a parking lot view.

Thanks Lisa, now I know I need to walk a little bit further down the hallway.

So do all 2 bedroom standard and value face the parking lot?
In Jambo House there are only two 2BR lockoffs that face the parking lot. They are in the Value booking category and are in Unit number 52 on the map, in the area marked in yellow. Only those two 2BR lockoffs in Unit 52 face the parking lot. The other Value villas face either the Sunset Savanna or the pool area. The Standard View rooms are colored light blue/turquoise and they all face the pool area.

Kidani Village will not have any Value rooms. Their Standard View rooms will have a view of a pool, garden or parking lot and there will be more than just two 2BR lockoffs with a parking lot view there.

How can I avoid getting a 2BR with a parking lot view?
If you are booking a Value villa, there are two 2BR lockoffs that face the parking lot, four that face the Sunset Savanna and four that face the pool area. You can request a particular view but it is only a request, not a guarantee. If you want to be sure you can't possibly get a parking lot view, you would have to book a different category. In Jambo House the Standard View rooms face the pool area. (Note: this will not be the case in Kidani Village. The Std View rooms in Kidani will have a view of a pool, garden or parking lot.) The Savanna View rooms face a savanna. The Concierge rooms (Jambo House only) face either the Sunset Savanna or the pool area.

So...I should be in good shape with a pool view with a 2BR Standard view LO...correct?

If you booked a Standard View 2BR, you will be in that turquoise area of the map which surrounds the pool area. The only issue you might have is that if your room is very close to the lobby, you will be looking at the restaurants' roof when you look down. You can see it better in this aerial photo:

My concern is that I made my ressies 11 months to the day for every day that we will be there (19 nights in a value - studio, 1br, 2br) and made a request for a savanna (I wouldn't even mind a pool view). But if someone beats me to the check-in desk and gets stuck with a parking lot view (if they didn't have a request on their ressie) then complains, will they be moved to my requested savanna because I have not yet arrived????:confused3 It seems like it's just who gets there first. Or is it that they hold the savanna room for us even if the people who beat us there say they don't like their parking lot view and request to move. I'm not sure if I'm getting my point accross:confused3
