Does having a PS help get you into a park on a busy day?

I am thinking of New Years Eve. We have PSs at Morrocco.

I know the standard advice is: go to the park you want and stay there.

But here is my question: let's say my family can't take the crowds, we leave. I may not even mind cancelling the PSs, but I will forfeit some money (Disney Dining made me give them a credit card number to hold PSs on very busy days. They said I should cancel 48 hours before to avoid the $10 per person charge.)

So if I am outside the park, trying to get in but cannot, will they waive the cancellation fee? Or will they let me in so I can keep my PS? Or are we just stuck???

Thanks for any and all advice!

No PS do not help you get into the park if it is crowded. If they close it to visitors you don't get to do your PS.

I have encountered the opposite. I had a ps at Magic Kingdom when the park had been closed to new guests and they let me in. I had to have my priority seating number though.
