Does going to Magic Kingdom first make other parks seem boring

On one of my trips I went with a family who had a six-year-old. We went to MK first. She was miserable the other days asking about the MK. Good thing we always go to MK on the last day of our vacation also. Before you leave I would think of some things at the other 3 parks that you know your children will enjoy & really emphasize those things before you go. A lot of parents only talk about the MK things such as the castle.

We have always done MK first, and I do find it magical. My 4-year-old thinks Magic Kingdom IS Disney World. He never complained once we were at the other parks. We always gave him something to look forward to at each place-- Tower of Terror, Pizza Planet and the Toy Story characters at MGM; Nemo and Test Track at Epcot. He also really enjoyed the characters and hidden surprises in World Showcase. AK is somewhat disappointing to our family.

in comparison (for children)? Mine are 8 & 10 years old.

I read this in a guidebook, and am wondering if anyone else has noticed this phenomenon.

Myself & 10y old nephew are MK first kinda guys!
I read the same guidebook. I think that theory may only apply to preschoolers.
Each park is just as exciting. However on our past trip we picked up a Pal Mickey, and I must say...PAL MICKEY definitley enhance the MAGIC. Especially in AK & Epcot. There is MUCH more to see & do in those places then I ever tought.
Give Pal Mickey a try.

I will add that this is very true and now that I think about it, we had really discussed exciting things they would see at EACH park. "WDW for Kids by Kids" is an excellent book for your children to look at and choose things they really want to see at each park.

My girls accepted and loved each park and their differences. We did begin and end at MK, although we did run to Fantasmic our last evening after a day at MK. Have fun no matter what!:wave2:
