Does Global Warming Concern You?

Just a little poll to see how the DIS feels on this subject.

Also:
Do you think it poses a big threat?
Are scientist making too big of a deal about it?
Do you think America is being ignorant to the facts?
Do you think that those SUV driving, sports car loving, gas guzzling people are evil?


Not really a debate, just a sort of "survey" of the DIS. I'm hoping your responses will be good enough to use for next term on a paper.

No. Global warming would concern me if we had more than 200 odd years of climate records to back the claims that it is a trend that is abnormal, worrisome or even caused by human consumption. The information we do have is certainly not enough to know the difference between normal and abnormal climate trends for the earth.

I'm not convinced it is real.

Many climatologists state we are at the end of an 'ice-age', so this may be a normal cyclical event.

It is hard to prove global, large-scale time related changes with only 20-50 years of observable data.

However, (blub) the concerned scientists could (glub) all be correct for absolutley they same (boy it's getting hard to type underwater, with this rising sea level!) reasons as noted above.

So I just don't know for sure.

Yeah...in the film The Day After Tomorrow it was pretty scary. The water touched the sky...that's global warming for you! In that movie, some people froze! They had to burn...well, anything to stay alive! Anyone seen it?

Yep. I also saw Independence Day, Men In Black and Deep Impact. Day After Tomorrow was the same type of fantasy.

OK, I'm young but I love the Posideon Adventure! Don't think us young people haven't seen the classics!

I don't believe in global warming, btw. Or, at least, I don't think we have nearly enough data to prove the change in temperatures isn't natural.

Has anyone read State of Fear by Crichton yet? I read that's his scientific topic for the book.
