Does family room extra space mean an extra bed?

we are sailing on the Fantasy in June.
We have the option of booking a family room for an extra $600. Deck 9. Veranda is same size as assigned room 9558. Is the extra space an extra bed or bunk bed? It’s just 2 of us so we don’t need the bed.

We would love a little more floor space but not if it’s just a bed. Trying not to bug our awesome travel agent who spent countless hours on the phone yesterday booking everyone’s cruise. I figured you experts would know.

Thanks in advance.

The bed is a Murphy bed, comes out of wall. If it means extra floor space, it is not, at least it did not seem like a lot on the Dream.

Yes, there are 2 sizes of veranda rooms. One is slightly longer than the other, makes the room feel less cramped. Not really needed for a couple though...

If it’s a negligible few feet I agree, not worth it. But if it feels and is bigger I think it’s a go. Thoughts?

There is an additional chair armchair in these rooms, increasing the seating capacity. In addition, the bathrooms are different. They have the circular tub rather than the rectangular tub.

There is additional floor space. If you look on a deck plan, you can easily see the extra bump out for the family cabins.

Some of the cabins sleep five and have the Murphy bed. Since you won't need that, you will have extra floor space even at night.

I was told by an officer on the Fantasy a few years back that the extra chair was removed from cabins that sleep five due to customer complaints about no good place to put the chair at night if the 5th bed was pulled down. In family cabins that sleep only four, cabins should still have the extra chair which is important to us. I have read of one cabin that is missing the chair.

The family cabins also have a different configuration for the dressers. There is not one adjoining the closets but rather more drawers, etc. in the area with the TV, refrigerator, couch, etc..

As noted by DLgal, the tub is circular.

We've had both types of cabins before. Personally, if it's just DH and I, the deluxe family verandah rooms are not worth the extra $$, IMHO. I might think different if it was my family of 4 (we did it with my family of 4 + my mom, so no choice in the matter). I personally loved the circular tub, though (that rain head shower head was lovely)! :D

That shower is the only reason I consider spending the extra money.

It’s always just the two of us in our stateroom. We tried both deluxe verandah stateroom and deluxe family verandah stateroom because we felt the space in the deluxe verandah stateroom on the Fantasy was noticeably less than the corresponding category (5B) on the Magic or Wonder. Although the family stateroom (4B in our case) was larger, we did not find the space as functional, in terms of drawer space and the locations of the drawers themselves. The round shower with the rainfall showerhead was nice, but I use a rainfall shower every day at home, so this is not a necessity when cruising. For our next Fantasy booking in November, we’ve opted to go back to the deluxe verandah room and save the money for other cruise expenses.
