Does everyone tip Mousekeeping?

Whatever:rolleyes:

I know what a hidden insult is and I got it the first time you described it. I just don't see it happening in this thread...

All I see are people answering the OP questions with their opinions but if you feel there's hidden insults somewhere then that's your purgative.

I am a sweet, kind and innocent person, thank you!;)

I have not posted until now, because I HAVE seen the hidden implications, whether meant or not. But, I don't want this post to end up like all the others on mousekeeping, so I am supporting Darian in his statements.
When someone says in large letters that they tip for this particular reason, it is implied that those who don't tip are not doing it for the opposite reason. (ie, uncaring, unappreciative, greedy, etc....)
Whether or not we agree, Disney's policy (from what I've read) is housekeeping is a non-tipped position. Therefore, it is understood that those working in that postion understand that they will be making the agreed upon wage. Anything over that, said tips, are a bonus.
It is then up to the guest as to tip or not. It is not part of the payment for the room & should not be a bribe to get the room cleaned.
If someone wants to give extra money, that is their option. But the same option & kindness should be given to those who decide not to tip.

Ladies & gentlmen, please choose your words wisely. We are typing in English not Greek & as impercise as our language is, we cannot see the face of the other person to truly know their meaning. All we have to go on is the written words, which somethimes are very sharp.

Cheers & good day to all.

Let's all have a good laugh!!:teeth:

Have any of you seen the Progressive commercial where the couples are competing over whose the better tipper. Finally the one says, "We'll tip 30% AND bus our own table!"

Can you see it now - new commercial with competing couples and one finally says, "We'll tip $20 a day AND scrub the tub!"

If you're not laughing - you're GRUMPY!! :p

Can we all agree that even if we love Mousekeeping and gladly tip Mousekeeping, this tipping thing has gone too far?

I work in a large office building. I just went to a counter service restaurant to get a bowl of soup to go. The cashier asked me what I wanted. I told her. She told me how much it cost. I paid her. She relayed the order to another. The whole transaction must have taken 30 seconds. AND THE CASHIER HAD A TIP JAR. What is the logic for tipping the cashier for taking my $4?

There's not a chance in the world that we'll all agree, but I sure do!

Unless I'm eating at a sit down restaurant, I don't tip. Those cute little tip jars are wasted on me!

I'm with you mrssalvaggio. This whole thing has gotten way out of proportion! Everybody needs to be able to laugh at themselves at one time or another.

Hey, did anybody forget that this is Disney World that we're talking about?? The happiest place on earth??

As I said in a much earlier post, whatever you do, whether you tip or not, do it with a happy heart. It's YOUR vacation!

This is sooo much akin to those people who yell at their 2 and 3 year olds who are tired and crying "This is Disney World. You will have a good time!"

I always feel bad for those kids!

And Anne...not sure of you username....it's a few pages back. While Disney does do a very good job at hiring CT and CR people, the majority still are FT, and therefore eligible for all benefits. Every single server I worked with was FT, as were all seaters minus college program staff and two other people who were CR, one who moved to FT while I was there, as did I from CP status. All the culinary workers were full time, minus one who was on the international program. I checked with my boyfriend and minus CP CM's, all of the custodial CM's he worked with were indeed FT. So do the majority of WDW CM's get benefits? Yup. If you speak with every mousekeeping CM you see on your way to the bustop I'm pretty sure you will find most are either CP's or FT.
