Is it bad that with 16 weeks to go we have a box of necessities packed up and ready to load in the trunk?

Batteries
Walkie Talkies
Rain Ponchos
Wet Wipes
Kleenex
Glow Jewelry
Camera
Video Camera
VidCam Tape
Pennies for the Presses
Christmas Carolling Mickey
Toy Story Christmas Tree
and other things

I know, I have it baaaaaad. Mickey

I'm leaving in a little over a week, but have been packing for probably a month. You know.....toss this in, toss that in, oops, can't forget this other thing! Maybe I'll finish before we leave!!

You may have packed a little prematurely...but I say, it doesn't hurt to be enthusiastic. :)

Hope you have a wonderful vacation at WDW! :)

No WAY!! You are not packing to soon! We are leaving in 7 weeks, and I have most of our stuff we need to take in the "disney closet."

This way if something comes up at work that takes a lot of time the week before we leave, or anything like that happens I have peace of mind I have been slowly putting everything away until we need to zip the suitcases.

Now, 7 weeks before we go is a bit early, but last time we went to disneyworld, I got busy at work, then was up THE WHOLE NIGHT before our 6:00AM flight packing. I was so tired, it was horrible. That will never happen again!

Now I hope I just don't get butterflies and the "I'm to excited to sleep" syndrome

I am almost finished packing for our early Oct trip. I have enough clothes that I can do this. We are going for 2 weeks (not just DW), and need to worry about the new airline weight guidelines for luggage. This is also the first time DD1 will be coming with us, so I don't want to forget anything. Her packed clothes are still a little too big for her to wear comfortably this summer, so I figured it would be better to pack them now, instead of putting them in a closet & forgetting them. Also, I would have to "pack" them in the closet anyway, so why not avoid double work? With 3 kids at home, a FT job, and school quickly approaching, I can only work on my Disney packing on the weekends. I also need to try to catch up with work for my job and house cleaning on the weekends. So, I figure that I only have 7 more weekends left to accomplish all of this and not feel rushed. Oh, yeah, the packing also helps "extend the magic" because it's a part of my WDW trip planning! I confess, that's the biggest reason I pack early!

I have to pack early as otherwise I wont find the things we need nearer the time. I have packed DHs vest and shorts (much to his annoyance), all of my clothes that I will need, all of DDs clothes, everyones socks and undies ( I always buy new undies for vacations in case our cases get searched at the airport - and I can never find matching socks so those have to be new too!;)
Most of our toiletries are packed. Only have to pack for DS and finding anything in his room is a miracle:eek:
I started packing 2 weks ago - 4-5 weeks ahead of the vacation:smooth:

You can never pack too early.

Going in the winter, I usually pack soon after labor day. :-)

But I'm not obsessive, am I? :D

Take a gander at my countdown!!! Last time we went in March I was packing/ un packing about 15 times 2 weeks before. It was easier then since it was Late Winter here in Jersey and I could pack clothes we weren't using. Now we leave in....oh a day and a 1/2 and I don't even have the suitcases out of the attic!!!
Laundry is piled up, ziploc bags on my dresser, passporter totally disorganized, van trashed...well you get the picture!
I told myself that I was gonna start laundry when I got up and have at least a load or 2 done before work but where am I? and where is my laundry??? HA! gotta love the DIS

We always go in November, and I pull out the suitcases in September, leave them on the floor of our bedroom, and as summer clothes are washed and put away for the season, I just toss them in the suitcases. That way, I don't have to spend time hunting them down in November. So.... that puts my pre-packing at about 2 months prior! :p

Another one who should be committed here - not leaving for almost a month and already have a bag of suntan lotion, film, aloe gel, etc. packed, as well as new summer clothes (bought on clearance) that I have packed and refuse to wear until we get to Disney! I was also thinking last night to myself - "OK - DS can wear the Spidey t-shirt to UNiversal and the Hawaii shirt to Ohana. DD can wear the sundress to Ohana . . ." Planning outfits - talk about warped!

I never pack early :p I'll be doing laundry this Sunday and packing probably wednesday night for an early flight on friday morning (woo hoo 8 more days!)

This is sooo funny! I too hit the clearance racks and bought all new clothes for our trip! I didn't even remove the tags before packing them in our luggage.

We don't actually pack until the day before we leave. That be said we do make extensive lists of what will will need take well ahead of time and hunt and gather during the weeks before. Our lists are big, we drive and take food and drinks and anything we could possibly need. Our last stay was at the YC and the doorman filled two carts to the brim to get everything to our room. Our big thing is keeping the kids out of the snacks bought for the trip and not wearing anything to be taken on the trip during the week prior..It's so much fun getting ready to go isn't it? I also love the drive down. It's a nine hour drive for us and there's none of the usual complaining about a long drive, it's upbeat and positive anticipation by everyone....can't wait to do it again..just don't know when my wallet can allow it.

Photobob- We drive down also. About 7 hours for us. I'm so glad to hear somebody else likes the drive down! People always think were crazy.

One of my favorite things to do is to keep our little "overnight" bag out, and pack it with duplicates of all our toiletries and such.
I keep an eye out all the time for sales and pick up toothbrushes/toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner, medicine, bandaids,etc.... Even a duplicate bag of all my make-up and things like that.
This way we always have a bag of essentials packed and ready to go, and I don't have to constantly pack and unpack the ones we use everyday at home. All that's left to do is throw clothes in the suitcases.

Pongo101-

Too funny - I didn't take the tags off either! And I was thinking of going back this weekend for the last of the summer sales!!

will the tags take up extra space and/or weight in my luggage! No joke! I just bough a pair of Payless sneakers (with the sandal type back-Cross Trekkers, very comfy) and am breaking them in right now! I plan on wearing them with socks (even though they are sandals in the back) on the plane from NY so I don't have to pack them. I wonder why my DD14 rolls her eyes at me every time I mention WDW?

FYI A friend just came back from WDW. She said EVERYONE had to take their shoes off at security. It was alot easier for those with sandals/slip-ons than regular sneakers. I guess it depends on the airport also. She was flying from Providence.

I don't know if you have a Belks around you, but they are having a great summer clearance sale. They have marked down all summer clothes 50% off orignal price, then an extra 50% off the lowest marked price!! I am going there every day just to check out what else they put out on the racks even though I don't need anythng else, LOL
My husband told me to stop shopping!

:bounce: Listening to Disney songs - dancing around the house - chatting on the Dis - shouting out the latest countdown numbers -chanting "Must get packed" - NAH! I'm not obsessed with Disney.........

 Michele :bounce:
