Does everyone like AK?

just a question for some of the "1/2 a day is plenty group"..is this because you've been there enough to not really want to go to every attraction ( which is me with mk, I like the littte details, the "adult rides" but zip through toontown(or what ever it's called now) and most of fantasyland so rarely spend more than 1 day there.) or just because it is not interesting to you to begin with? so I guess has disney failed at it's attempt or are you just not interested to start with. I wonder how many stay at akl yet feel this way about ak?

My family loves the AK. of course my husband is the one that still really likes zoos, etc. lol. No but it is a diff. park then the others. Alot of people try to compare to other zoos, which you really cant. The safari ride is our fav. also Dinosaur to. Its fun to just relax and go through all the little paths to see the smaller animals that you dont really see when you are rushing around. The kids like Pizzfarri.. We usually spend 1/2 day then go back another time for 1/2 day. But we def love Animal Kingdom. Give it a try , i think youll like it......And of course the shows are great to.

As one of the 1/2 day group, it is just not that interesting to us in that some of the attractions just seem lacking. We love zoos and such and love animals. The safari is fine and a must do when you go, but its not that exiting to us, just one of those things you have to do when your there. Conservation station is a bit boring, my kids can pet goats anywhere, but we always go to see pocahontas there. A bugs life is good, but Kali seems lacking. The dinosaur also seemed lacking a tad, I wished I could have seen more, it was just dark all the time. The Lion King was good and the Pocahontas show is neat for kids. The trails are great for people who want to relax and walk around, but I can do that at home at the zoo. It is just that, all though we love animals, etc., the park seems to be missing something and not up to its full potential, but that is just us and others love it as it is. I think that if the dinosaur ride had a little more and the Kali River Rapids had animals popping up and snakes in trees, elephants in the river (animatronic) it would turn it from a so so ride into a great one. I think that for us it just lacks that something that is great for us. MGM has Rockin roller coaster, TOT, Fantasmic etc, MK has space mountain, splash mountain, spectromagic, etc, Epcot has test track and the countries with Illuminations, but for us AK is missing that something great.

On our first trip to Animal Kingdom, my expectations were so high! Of course I ended up walking out totally disappointed. However, a couple years later we went back and spent about 4 hours, and left with a completely different outlook. We had a great time the second time around. I feel the same way about California Adventure too. Now, we LOVE going to that park. You have to take them for what they are, and not expect Disneyland or the Magic Kingdom.

As July visitors, my fiancee and I agree that the temperature in the AK is at least ten degrees higher than the other parks. While we love the heat, many people who we have spoken to leave the park early due to the temperature. It seems as if there aren't as many air conditioned areas in the park as in the others. Also, due to the foliage, which is beautiful and authentic, the park seems to hold the heat, especially with the canopies created by the trees. Couple this with the fact that the pathways are rather narrow and the necessary backtracking to get from land to land, and you have the reason why we feel it is the weakest of the four parks. There aren't that many attractions, per se, and I think AK would be helped if Disney would add Beastly Kingdom someday.

While we always go to AK during our stay for a full day and enjoy ourselves, we don't return to the park during our trip, as we do the other parks. In eleven days, we usually go to Epcot four or five times, MGM three or four, and MK - too many to count. But we agree that AK is a totally different theme park experience that only Disney could create.

There is only two attractions we really like at AK......Tarzan Rocks, and ITTBAB. We did see alot of characters at AK everytime we've been there.
And we enjoyed Rain Forest Cafe, it was nice and cool in there after being in a hot park.
AK is a very HOT park, We have to go in the summer since we will not take GS out of school to go in the off season. Take plenty of water and give it a shot you might be one of the families that love AK.
You can get free ice water at any of the places that sell drinks at WDW....but we still take our own so that we don't have to wait in long lines for a small cup of water.

I loved AK. I thought the park was beautiful, interesting and found myself "strolling", instead of making a mad dash to the next ride. My favorites are:, ITTBAB, Tazan Rocks (and he does ;) ), Dinosaur, the Safari & Primevil Whirl. I wasn't too thrilled with Kilaminjaro (sp?), it was ok. I just loved the theming and the detail of AK, but agree with others as far as the heat goes. Whew! We must have rode Kilamanjaro 3 times in order to cool off! lol:p

We love AK!!! Last June we spent 1.5 days & we did not even see everything. We reallytook our time & enjoyed the park.

We all loved Dinosaur, ITTBAB, FOTLK, safari, etc. We meant to check out Tarzan Rocks but never got around to it.
We are making at least a 1/2 trip to AK in December, mainly to ride Dinosaur (my 4 yo loves this ride), safari & to see Tarzan Rocks. We would love to spend all day there but we are only in the World for 3 full days, so we are splitting AK & MGM.

For our June 2004 trip we probably will spend 2 FULL days at AK!!! We really enjoy this park

It USED to be a 1/2 day park, but now that they have added a LOT its a FULL DAY!;) Just don't go in JUNE JULY AUGUST-you will DIE from the heat--and I LIVE in Heat! For some reason, its a VERY HOT, and HUMID park! I am anxious to go in Nov. when its a little cooler.:o

There is a lot to see at DAK. But as someone pointed out, many do it commando style and miss a lot.
It's not an entertainment in your face every second type of place. It is beautifully done.
My favorite ride is KRR. I could ride that 3 - 4 times and be perfectly happy.
DH really enjoys the Dinosaur ride. I like it, but not that much.
I can see where others think this is a lacking park.
I haven't seen TtBaB for awhile. About once every two years is fine with me.
tFotLK was very nice and we enjoyed it. The parade is okay. Not a favorite.
Conservation Station we have been to three times. Unless something really new and grand is added -- it's a been there done that experience.
The new ride will help DAK a lot. That park did need it badly.
DAK could use better eating areas too. Choice is too limited, I think. Tusker we have eaten there twice. Okay at best. (Although I have read some rave about it. )
Flametree is nice. But not protected enough by rain/weather temps) and sometimes closed.
Then that pretty much leaves RFC. The restaurant in Dinoland we haven't tried yet.
People always post about rides that could be problems for bad backs/necks. We think the only ride that really could screw someone up is the Tri-Top Spin. I enjoy that ride, as cheesy as it is. But that's the one I can feel in my back during the ride.

We love the AK. We love gardens and greenery and animals. Did you see the Wonders of Flight? The tigers are amazing ,as are the birds I wonder what some people are looking for .when they go there.

I don't have a bad back, but being an osteopathic physician, I tend to notice which rides are potential problems. In AK, Dinosaur is probably the worst. Very quick jerky motions. Same ride mechanism as Indiana Jones in Disneyland and there have been quite a few injuries on that one.

Depending on your driver, the Safari can be pretty rough too. They purposely made the road rough and rutted to simulate actually driving through the fields.

Primeval Whirl is pretty smooth as coasters go. Though if you catch a good spin, it does whip you around pretty hard.

Steve

Like yes, love--no. AK will come along though. Epcot and MGM didn't hit the mark right at first either. Give it another few years.

It looks like this park at least deserves a second chance. Maybe those of us who weren't impressed the first time will do just that. After all, it is Disney, right? ;)

I've been through every area of the park 2 times...I just haven't seen all of the shows. I think the park itself, given it's content, is VERY well done...it's just not MY thing. The parade was, well, different....not BAD, just different.

So....I guess my answer is that I'm just not interested in about 1/2 of AK all that much. I always want to experience anything Disney has to offer, hence the reason we've visited the park on 3 separate vacations, but AK just doesn't offer much for my personal taste. The other 3 parks are perfect for me.

I visited the AKL last October, and it is beautiful! However, I would choose the WL over AKL any day.
