Does everyone in your party have to use a TS credit?

At a TS restaurant, do we have to use a TS credit for everyone? My 12 yo would often just like to have an appetizer or a much cheaper entree item. Can I pay OOP for his meal and save his TS credit for a different meal?

Yes, you can have some people paying with credits and others OOP. What you cannot do is use credits for people not on the dining plan (like bring your friend and pay for his meal with your child's credit) or split up credits on a signature meal, meaning you can't cover the 2 credits for a meal with half credit and half cash.

That's great! It makes paying for my 12 yo Disney "adult" a little more palatable. Now we can use some of his unused TS credits for a signature meal or show.

You will not be able to do this at Via Napoli, they don't allow it.

Obviously not at buffets, AYCE or fixed price places either.

We used this strategy a few months ago as our DD is a very picky 12 y/o that eats like a bird. We used a credit on her at Via Napoli but paid OOP for her everywhere else which gave us a few extra credits to do signatures. It worked out well everywhere except Le Cellier where the hostess was rude and nasty preaching to us how the DDP works. She refused to give us a kids menu; our DD is a very small 12 y/o and easily passes for younger. I wasn't going to use 2 credits for her to eat as little as she does, but she did want some steak. The waitress was super nice and made up for it as she recommended ways to split the meal.
