We are planning feb trip. Are all schools off the same week. So is it crazy crowded?

Most schools do not get a February break. We have been to WDW during that time and found it more than manageable.

I don't know of any schools in our area (central Indiana) that get a Feb. break. We never had a Feb. break in any of the schools where I taught in TX, OK, or NC. We've been in Feb. and not had any crowds (although it was many years ago).

All the schools where we live have the same February break, President's Week. We're in CT and all the NY schools I know of have the same break as well. When I was growing up, President's Week was the traditional time to go to FL. ^^;

We're actually going the tail end of the break because that week end is also the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon. I've heard it gets as many as 20,000 people. I did Tower of Terror which is much smaller and that had over 11,000.

Must not be a midwest thing. I'm in the Chicago suburbs and I don't know anyone who gets a February break. My kids just get Presidents Day off. Not long enough for a WDW trip.

It is fairly common for many North East schools to have the entire week following President's Day off. however, it is certainly not common nation wide. We've going twice during that week and did not find the crowds too terrible, but we tend to go during peak times.

I'm pretty sure it is just a Northeast thing. I am pretty sure it's NY, CT, and MA. I wouldn't be surprised if RI, ME, NH VT and NJ get the week off as well. And while the NE is a pretty small area of the country, NY to FL is a very popular route. I tend to use Touringplans when looking at WDW crowd levels. They've been collecting data for 15+ years. Most of February isn't so bad, it's the 13-20th you want to avoid, with the week end of the 21-23 being the Princess 1/2. The race is on Sun at 5:30 am and goes from Epcot up to MK and back down. I've never done it before, so I'm not sure how it works with getting all the runners out of Epcot when the race is done before 9 am opening. Sat at 5:30 am is the new Princess 10k around the Epcot resorts. There are also kid races around 8ish in the World Showcase.

My kids don't have a winter break. In Feb they only have off the 14th & the 17th. We are in orange county NY, my sister lives in Rockland county & I don't think her kids get a winter break either.

I just want to add that I have lived in 3 different counties in NY and have never had a week off in Feb. So for those saying it's a NY thing, that's not the case for all of NY. Or, maybe the places I lived/live are just abnormal lol ;)

Some school districts in metro Atlanta have the full week beginning with President's Day off. My kids have had the full week off, a long weekend like Friday-Tuesday off for President's Day, and just President's Day itself off - seems to vary each year. We have never been to WDW at that time, though.

In our area, there's generally no break, but pretty certain that most to all schools are closed on President's Day, so if you can avoid the President's weekend, that would be wise. With it being a Federal holiday weekend too, it will certainly be crowded.

We live in WA and most of the districts around the Seattle area do get that week off. My son however attends online school hosted through the states capital school district (farther from the city area) and that district doesn't.

I do think many west coast states have the week off, as we've been to DL and it's been really crowded. But that could def make WDW less crowded if west coasters stay in DL :)

I'm so glad you posted this. It seems like different schools have totally different breaks and it's confusing to me. I usually try to go to Disney during slow times, but I find myself in a huge crowd. I don't even mind that really, I just like to be mentally prepared.

Wow, that is so weird because we lived in Westchester for many many many years in two different school districts they always got the full week off. I'm pretty sure NYC schools get off as well, as do Long Island.

I still stand by when planning a trip to WDW visiting TouringPlans gives you a pretty decent idea of how crowded the parks will be.

Sure it is! Just takes a little planning. ;)

That's probably very good advice.

We just went for Halloween weekend so I know it's "doable." But it was a special occasion - my 50th birthday. And we've done many long weekends in the past, like right before Xmas and for DD's birthday in May a few years ago, as she wanted to celebrate her birthday at WDW, but we can't take a full week while kids are in school. But airfare is getting so expensive, I'd rather take one longer trip each year instead of several shorter ones.

You might want to check on the date of Mardi Gras. Lots of folks in Louisiana go that time of year as the kids have 2- 3 days offs. Mardi Gras is March 4, 2014.

Enjoy your trip!!

I live in southwest Florida. Neither my son (public school) or I (public university) have a week off in February. My son has President's Day and the day after off. We both have Spring Break in March, but they're a week apart.

I'm from Indiana, and none of my friends' kids' in and around the Indianapolis area have a February break either.

All Massachusetts schools have that week off. I believe that CT & RI have it too. NH has the following week. It is busy on the long weekend but gets a little lighter during the middle of the week. This year (2014) it is not during Mardi Gras. If it is Mardi Gras - it is worse the whole week.
