If I request an Epcot view at BCV, would I also have a view of the canal? I understand their used to be an alligator in it? Also, should I request a dedicated two bedroom if I want one? I would also like one of the rooms that have two queen beds in it, rather than a sleeper sofa. Should I request that?

I'd make all the requests you want but I'd list them in the order of importance to you.

There are two views that have a possible view of Epcot, the view referred to as the Garden view will also have a view of the canel, the view referred to as woods/wetlands will not have a view of the canel. (Just a side note: the view of the canel also has a view of the service road, just wanted to note this in case it bothers you, we did not have a problem with this).

There are only going to be 25 dedicated 2 bedroom villas with the 2 queen size beds in the 2nd bedroom. This is in the process of being changed. You will eventually be able to specifically reserve one of these rooms.

Last month, we had what they called a "pool" view. Our room faced the BC pool but also the parking lot. Between the pool and the parking lot, though, was a canal. That's where we saw Mr. Al E. Gator residing along with many soft shelled turtles. We could see him swimming from our balcony on the second floor. It was really cool!

Yes, the canel acutally runs under one wing of the resort. The one side of that wing faces Epcot, the other side of that wing faces the pool.

You will eventually be able to specifically reserve one of these rooms.
Really!? So, at that point if I call to book a 2 BR villa and tell them I want a dedicated one with 2 queen beds in the second bedroom, they will guarantee that room type (if available) as opposed to just noting it as a preference? I find that very surprising given that so many other room features (smoking status, handicapped status, view) can only be noted as preferences, and will not be guaranteed.

Very surprising, indeed!

Sam, all I can tell you is what I was told by a Manager at the BCV. He told me that once the changes are made to the bedding, you will be able to confirm a reservation (not a request) for the following at BCV:

Studio
One-Bedroom
2 Bedroom Lock-off
2 Bedroom Dedicated with Sofa and Queen Bed
2 Bedroom Dedicated with 2 Queen Beds.

I guess we will see when and if this happens, he told me he would call me when they put these codes in the computer, so I could change my current reservation from a 2 bedroom Dedicated to a 2 Bedroom Dedicated with 2 Queen beds.

Thanks for the information, Terry. Did the manager speculate on the time frame when the bedding change would be completed?

I have a 2 BR (dedicated) booked for mid-March, so I'm curious if this change is likely to occur before my stay... :earsboy:

Sam, I was told that starting this month they will be replacing the double sleeper sofa in all 78 of the dedicated 2 bedrooms. 25 of them will be replaced with queen beds and the rest will be replaced with queen sleeper sofas. The bedspreads and sofa beds are all custom made so they had to be ordered and I don't know if they actually came in or not yet. They will be doing this fairly slowly as to not inconvienance too many rooms at one time. If all goes as planned you might be able to get one of these rooms. I can let you know if I hear from my friend and you can call MS and have them change it.

Thanks, Terry. It's by no means a critical point, but I would be interested if you receive an update. :earsboy:

Terry,

Thanks for the great info. Forgive me if I jump on a minor point.

The road behind BCV is not a "service road". It's Epcot Resorts Blvd, the very same road you use to get to the Beach Club! After the Beach Club, it curves around behind BCV, goes under a tunnel beneath the walkway (and waterway!) to Epcot's International Gate, and continues over to Boardwalk and back to Buena Vista Drive, making a complete loop.

It may seem like a service road since there's little reason for guests to drive this stretch of road, so it's mostly used by buses, CM's and service vehicles. I actually ran along this road during our recent stay. Once you go through the tunnel there are sections with no sidewalks, so I'd recommend avoiding this route, instead running around Crescent Lake or following the jogging path maps they hand out.

Beyond Epcot Resorts Blvd, there are undoubtedly service roads that run behind the Canadian and UK pavilions, but I don't think you can quite see them from BCV, and in any case the noise from them is minor compared to that from Epcot Resorts Blvd, which is itself hardly noticeable if you have your balcony door closed.

erikthewise, great point. We used the road almost exclusively in traveling to the BCV's when entering WDW from the Downtown Disney Gate. Turn at the Boardwalk entrance and gas station and continue under the tunnel and to the BCVs.

erikthewise, you are correct and I was aware that it was Epcot Resorts Blvd, I have been on it many times. I guess I just referred to it as a "Service Road" since that is the way everyone around here refers to it. Thanks for the correction.

Terry,

Thanks for putting up with my "hot button" response. It was really "everybody around here" I was responding to rather than just you.

Even though I knew about the tunnel, I never realized that it went under the waterway until I wrote this post!
