Does DVC use e-mail?

Good morning All!

We purchased BWV via resale a few years ago. Despite providing my e-mail address, I have never received any e-mail communication from DVC. I asked about this 6 months ago and a DVC rep said that they don’t use the e-mails provided via the DVC web site for anything. Contacted the DVC rep I’ve been working with for a possible BLT add-on and she says that as far as DVC is concerned, they have my e-mail address. After I reconnected with DVC proper (vs the resale company) I started to receive snail-mail sales brochures. But still no e-mail.

Doesn’t make sense to me. Poor use of a good tool (e-mail).

What types of e-mail communications are y’all receiving (if any) from DVC?

I get the mass email ads sometimes, once in awhile get a snail mail (really hope they send out a cool VGC selling thing like they did for BLT..it was so pretty and a nice keepsake). As far as communication with my guide, I think they may have rules about that, so if I email I will get a call back, or an email that just asks me to call.

I've received emails from DVC when they want to sell me something, but never received an email from my guide. I don't think it's allowed in general.

I have my guide's DVC e-mail address and have corresponded with him on occasion regarding specific questions. I've never received an unsolicited e-mail from him. Actually, now that I think about it, at times his e-mail response has been "what phone number are you at?". So, I think they prefer to communicate over the phone. Probably the less that is in writing, the better, from their perspective.

In general, guides are not supposed to use email. DVC does use email for mass mailings of the current purchase incentives, but that's about all.

When you log-on to a Disney website.DVC member website, there is an area where you can designate if you wish to receive emails from Disney...but again, they are alomost always just sales info.

You can request a DVC reservation via email, that is also located on the DVC Member website.
