another question:
do DVC members staying at VWL still get "free" valet? and what exactly does that mean? Do you just tip them, and the "fee" for the service itself is waived?
thank you!
Yes, DVC members still get free valet parking at VWL, BWV and BCV.
Tipping is definitely still appropriate...not included in the "freebie". As I understand it, you drive up, show them your card (if just checking in and don't have a room key) and they will provide valet service for tips only.
Stopped at VWL to spend a few hours while in Orlando on a business trip. Only have to show your DVC card and there will not be any questions. The valets were very nice and said to 'stay as long as you wish.' As Granny said, a tip is appropriate.
The American Society of Travel Agents recommends, "Parking Attendants: Tip $1-$2 when your car is delivered." I follow their advice, never tipping when dropping off my car, and tipping $2 each time it is delivered back to me.
Valet Parking is free for DVC members at any DVC resort that offers valet parking. Valet parking is not free at any none DVC resort, but do not forget it is $ 6.00 a day and you can go from resort to resort after you pay your first $6.00.
Since i used to work for tips years ago i usually tip $ 5.00 or $6.00, would rather give my $6.00 to the person bustn there butt for me than a corporation.
We usually tip the valet from $3 to $5, using the higher amount when they have to unload the car. We also tip both times- dropoff and delivery. The valets have always been very courteous and provided assistance when we required it.
I tip $1-$2 when I drop off and $3 when I pick up, and usually $10 upon arrival as we always have about 900 pounds of groceries along with our luggage.
We seem to be in agreement with the other posters. We usually tip $2 at drop-off, $2 at pickup and about a $1 a bag when unloading and loading which usually means at least a $10 tip!
