I've read some threads where people are enthusiastically giving out referrals. Is there something that the Member gets for sending a referral that purchases DVC? I know a couple of friends that are looking and it would be a nice bonus (for us both :thumbsup2 )

It depends upon your state/country of residence. About 1/2 of the US states allow referral payments. If you reside in a state that allows it, I think you get $200 Disney Dollars or a credit on your annual dues if someone you refer actually purchases.

I know my state, Texas, only allows to to recieve a "Thank You" letter, no monetary bonus of any kind.

Although they didn't really refer us (we've been wanting to buy since our honeymoon!) we had friends who were members so we used their name. We got 100 dev points and they got $250 in disney dollars (state of PA)

If you live in Nebraska, you dont dont get squat for referrals. Very unfortunate because I know of 3 peeps that I got hooked up....and I got _______.

I just got our first referral bonus in the mail yesterday! You can receive up to 5 rewards per year.

Refer 1 friend and receive a $200 reward
Refer a 2nd friend and receive an additional $350 reward
Refer a 3rd friend and receive an additional $500 reward
Refer a 4th friend and receive an additional $750 reward
Refer a 5th friend and receive an additional $1000 reward

You can see why people would be enthusiastic about giving out referrals. It can be very profitable.

You can choose to have your reward in the form of a Disney gift card, a prepaid Visa card, credit toward your DVC annual dues, or credit toward an additional DVC purchase of at least 25 points.

Elligible states are: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Puerto Rico is also eligible.

This might invoke some debate I am sure, but it seems to me quite unfair that just because I live in a particular state, I may not be able to get the bonus - I know its not DVC's fault. Sounds like a law that's outdated or has no policy purpoose, particularly when other states don't have it.

That's serious money especially for more than one referral. Has anyone from a non-bonus-paying state considered giving the name of someone from a bonus-paying state and splitting the referral fee?

Where do you find out which states "allow" a referral bonus and which ones do not? Is there a website where the information is posted? :)

Thanks,
