I know there was one announced last year in July. Just wondered if that was typical or just random. Hoping there might be one this year too!
Yes, that is an interesting writeup on how Star Wars Land at Disneyland will be affecting the DL passholders.I was interested to read that the block out dates for DisneyLAND annual passholders were increased in anticipation of the opening of SWL there next summer.
For that reason, I agree with _auroraborealis_, no ticket "deals" for DVC member in the near future. Hope we are both wrong, though.![]()

Wouldn't think so. I don't recall them altering terms of purchase for tickets anytime in the past. Not sure they even can legally. We have the Platinum APs from the deal last year. We will activate in Dec 2018 and hoping to catch opening of SWL in late Nov. (Thanksgiving) 2019. They don't (wouldn't / shouldn't) add black out dates to that pass, right?!
That is what I figured. I am annoyed with myself that I didn't buy the Platinum deal AP - I had no plans at the time to go during December. We were going to go in November. But now we will be going during a few of the black out dates. I am going to use PH's that I have an upgrade on the last day of our trip to Gold AP's so that should work out ok. But if there was a promotion I would possibly do that instead.Random. There is almost no chance of one this year, particularly the AP deal. The Platinum AP deal was a real unicorn.

However, there is a very tiny glimmer of hope that WDW might get some type of a ticket promotion in the next few weeks. Disneyland's Star Wars Land will debut in late June 2019, which is only 13 months away. Thus, Disney had to announce changes to the Disneyland passes right now.
WDW's Star Wars Land won't debut until September 2019 at the earliest, or maybe no sooner than December 2019. Thus, Disney has a brief window of opportunity to offer a ticket deal right now for WDW in the next few weeks. The ticket deal could be structured so that the tickets expire just before WDW's Star Wars Land is about to open.
I'll be shocked if we get a new ticket offer, but I'm enough of an optimist to never say never.
I normally stagger my Annual Passes to get 2 summers out of 1 pass. This summer will be my second summer with the pass so I would have to purchase another next year to start the process over again. Knowing the new Star Wars attractions are going to most likely be a mega draw I decided we are doing DCL next summer so I won't need passes now until 2020.

This was discussed on the dis unplugged this past week. When it states "late fall" this could potentially put it into December (still technically fall until the 20th or so of Dec). It was their suggestion that anyone wanting to make a trip specifically for SWL should plan for Jan 2020-- So could this mean that 2019 might be a little lighter? If someone only goes every few years - if interested in SWL - they might be inclined to wait until 2020. So with that I wonder if they will offer ticket deals to ensure people will plan trips for 2019. I think TSL is a smaller draw and really isn't going to make people want to take a trip just to see that land. It will be -- "lets wait until 2020 and then we can see both lands".WDW's Star Wars Land won't debut until September 2019 at the earliest, or maybe no sooner than December 2019.

Good idea! We try to get at least two trips out of one AP and sometimes 3. We have never been to Disneyland nor been been on a DCL.
We used that 2014 four day/park tix for $199, loved it. Although you couldn't park hop, it was fine for us as we planned the days. Nice thing we could purchase it for others. I purchased for brother in law and nephew to use! I would LOVE LOVE to see something like this offered again! In 2014 a four day/park tix for $199 was announced early in September. Purchased and used for our Oct trip that year
Believe i can downgrade it once expired & renew to Gold...I hope...$500 or so +???
