Does Dream feel really crowded?

I have seen a few photos spattered over the internet of Dream. One thing that is now worrying me is that it appears to be crowded?

For those who have cruised on Dream already with 4000 people, does it appear crowded? How are the public areas etc?

Thank you

Kim

you will wait in line in many places that you did not on the other ships... pack your patience....

The two top comments heard everywhere:

1) Food service is horrible
2) I am tired of waiting in line

How was the service on your dinner rotation? What was your dinner rotation?

BTW - I am "patiently" waiting the rest of your review!!!!! Loved the adult pool review

Oh no really? I hope it didn't put a damper on your cruise. Was just curious with that many people what it was like.

Thanks for the info

The lines and crowds are a big concern for me as well. My DH is still not sold on cruising. He went once. He agreed to do it again but he HATES crowds. Last night we were going out to eat. Every place we went had a wait. We ended up coming back home. Lucky for me, he can't just get off the ship but it surely put a damper on his experience - mine too because I have to hear it:confused3

I would think that there would be lines for the aquadiuck and maybe a little wait time for fast food but of course these cruisers giving their opinions are the first cruisers on the dream and they still haven't gotten all the kinks out. One of the reasons I would never do a maiden cruise is that it will take at least 6 mohths for the crew to get their act together. Please if you are cruising the Dream this year, give the crew a bit of a break, also I have heard that the other big lines are to buy the special merchandise offered this year and that is the choice of the passenger, that has nothing to do with the staff.

That is too bad... we loved the Wonder, and even when it was "packed" we only waited to refill our drinks.... but otherwise the lack of lines was great. I may stick to the dream and wonder for now

In two Dream cruises, Tony has rarely waited for aquaduck (half hour was most, and that was rare), but there weren't many kids on either cruise. Line at guest services is constant. Our servers were great on this one but heard of very slow service too. Embark/disembark were bad, but I think that was because it was the Maiden (christening disembark was great).

I really dont have anything to say about standing in line. but as far as food service, you have to remember this is a new ship, and just like the opening of a new resturant its going to take a while to work out the glitches, if food service is still bad after 4 or 5 cruises then theres a problem.
At least thats my take on it.

I just hope that things get better on the Dream in the weeks ahead. I have finally convinced my sister to go on a Disney cruise! I have raved so much about the Wonder and Magic. She and her 2 kids are going with me and DD on March 10th! I so want them to have a great time!!

Yes, very long lines for everything. We spent 2 weeks on Oasis of the Seas last June, and a week on Allure over New Years. The lines on the Dream were worse. We had 3100 on the Maiden Voyage, and I couldn't even get anywhere near the Sail Away show. In 2 weeks they are booked to capacity and they'll be doing 2 Sail Away shows to accomodate everyone. First will be before the Muster Drill, second one afterwards.

The ship is just not organized well. All of the quick service restaurants are in one clump on Deck 11, and the buffet at the other end of the ship is only open for a couple hours at a time. The dining room service is extremely slow. I felt so sorry for our assistant waiter, he looked like a deer in the headlights the entire time. I doubt he'll make it through his contract.

In talking to one of the cruise staff, he said that approximately 60% of the cast members are brand new, so it'll be awhile before things settle down. But I must say I had absolutely no complaints with any cast member. They were all working as hard as they could, and I thanked as many of them as I could.

my opinion is that everyone on here should calm down about all these trip reports from the Dream and whats wrong!! haha :rotfl::rotfl: its the maiden voyage already and its the first cruise that the Dream was fully functioning at max capacity and doing everything. a ship wont be spot on 100% perfect for EVERYONE on the first fully fuctioning maiden voyage. this happens with all new ships. I am fully aware that there were kinks wrong with the Magic on its Maiden Voyage and looks how its turned out?

Hi everyone! I'm here at Orlando airport waiting for our flight home. We just got off the Dream and had a fantastic time!!! A few comments about what people are saying...

1) we could not believe how many people were complaining about the silliest little things. For example...someone complained about a cast member NOT saying good morning. Also so many complaints about there not being enough "special stuff". Also the lack of celebrities...we heard so many comments about lines. We had lines to buy super special merchandise (duh) and lines to have ducky sign something (duh again) and lines to complain about tiny little things. Oh and the weather...really people???

2) I agree with pensfan8771, we went into this cruise expecting lots of mishaps. And yes, there were lots, such as getting appetizers and main course before drinks. And us not finding our dining table because the person seating us had the map upside down. But those mistakes were harmless and cute. We expected nothing less. One of my favorite moments was when I was at meridians cigar verandah and someone opened the door for me. She was a brand new cast member and this was her first cruise ever. When she opened the door, she noticed the sunset...she was so sad she didn't have her camera as she has never seen a sunset at sea. She was marveling at it's beauty. I gently reminded her that she would see tons more of them and her smile lit up the dark sky. We offered to email a picture to her and she giggled and said that I was right, she would see many more! :)

3) we were in sooooooo many places that had so much extra capacity. We kept wondering if the ship was at capacity. The sail away party (with free champaign) had so much open space...it was weird. My husband had to finish up some office work and came up as the party was starting and walked right up to us at middle center stage. Match your mate was almost empty! So many things to do...the shows had plenty of seating etc.

4) we did notice several cast members chatting in guest areas. Not normal and I am sure this will be corrected quickly as it was unusual for Disney and just a learning curve.

5) we ran into many celebrities on board. They were all very gracious and kind. We met a famous child actress, an Oscar winner, and a top ranking disney exec. They were all kind, talkative and welcoming! I am not sure who people were expecting, but so many interesting and amazing Disney people were on board. It was awesome!!!

6) In general, we had an amazing time, from the awesome sail away (especially all the people lining the canal waving Bon voyage), to our amazing meal at remys, to the amazing people we met. We were honored to have been on the maiden voyage and would do it again in a heartbeat!

Which sailing is this?

One of my DH's biggest worries are what can go wrong with a new ship. I sure hope things get moving faster.

this pretty much sums it up on how we feel.

Was the maiden voyage sold out or nearly so? That may contribute to the crowded feeling.
