Does Dollar rent carseats for toddlers?

Couldn't locate a thread about this (although I probably missed one).

Do they rent carseats? I could not find it on their website.

They did several years ago when I went with my friend.... but we agreed that it was a bad idea and we should have bought hers. The seat seemed old and beat up and she was really worried that it was not "safe" As I understand it, if they have been in an accident they should be retired? These looked like they had been thrown around a LOT! Plus it was dirty.

We rented with Dollar a few years back (2006 or 2007?) and also rented a car seat. When we arrived, the guy went back into this little room and picked a seat from a bunch. ALL the seats in the room were plastic covered. When he gave it to us, it looked brand new, never used. Now granted, we've never rented a car seat since then so maybe our new seat has been used and abused by now! But I wouldn't hesitate to rent one again.

And if I remember correctly, they didn't rent them on the website. I had to call and have it added to the reservation. I believe back then it was $9.95/day.

I wouldn't rent a seat, you never know how it's been taken care of or what you're going to get when you get there. I've known people that have ended up w/ expired seats and had to go buy a seat as soon as they left the rental place. It's safer to use the seat on the plane anyways so might as well take it.

They do rent, but it's cheaper to pay the extra luggage fee (if it applies) and fly your own down.

We did this 2 years ago... the car seat was not in the best shape and will not do that again. It was also a little bit expensive.

On the airlines we have flown that charge for checked baggage baby equiptment is excluded from this fee. That included car seats and the stroller that we gate checked. We got a bag from Toys-R-Us for about $20 that holds the car seat so it didn't get dirty in transit.
