Does Does Disney Release Additional FP+ Each Day?

I don't have the most optimal times for some of the most hard to get fast passes. Just wondering what the odds are of snatching a better FP on the morning of my park day. Don't want to get my hopes up!

There has been no evidence that they hold anything back. Things come up when others cancel, but it's hit or miss.

Agreed, they do not appear to hold any FPs for day-of use. They are all released into the wild over 2 months before, and it's first-come first-served from there. This kind of info can be found in the Availability post linked to in my signature below.

As the others said and I agree.. I don't think they hold back any FP for day-of use but anecdotally it was my experience during our spring break trip that if I woke up early and immediately got on MDE right when the park opened (or just before) that I could sometimes find FP's for rides I couldn't originally get or move a couple around. This wasn't always true and it wasn't always easy. Meaning, there were 3 of us and sometimes I could move 2 of us and then keep searching and could get an overlapping time for the third person if I kept looking all morning. Other times I only needed to move 2 of us and that was easier. I suspect people were changing plans the morning of and you just had to be lucky and/or diligent to get the FPs.

I don't know. On our last trip I checked availability on the night before our day in MK and there was practically nothing available at all- only some of the less popular FP rides like HM, Barnstormer, Buzz, IASW, Philharmagic, and Monsters, Inc. I was worried about crowds (and rightly so) since there was so little availability.

However, when I went to get our fourth FP around 1 pm, there was a quite a large selection available, including Splash, BTMRR, and Space Mountain. It is possible that a whole bunch of people cancelled their FP+ experiences that morning, but I don't know why they would since there was practically nothing available to change them to.

I immediately wondered whether Disney had released some FP+ on the day of. I know this is one experience and doesn't prove anything, but it was anecdotal evidence to me that they could be holding back on some of them.

But, your anecdote, as you say, is from one day.

There have been about a thousand days "monitored" (by members of this and other fan sites) since FP+ has been on-line, and those hundreds (thousands?) of anecdotes point in the other direction.

Interesting. Are there particular threads where people report on this? I just use my experience to determine whether it is even worth my time to try for a fourth FP (not sure what other practical purpose the knowledge might serve) but that may be fairly irrelevant now that we can make our fourth FP from the app.

Every potential aspect of FP+ was discussed and possible angles and procedures postulated... long before they even released the first FP+.
After FP+ came on-line, there were hundreds of posts questioning every single aspect, down to the smallest details.
Months and months of daily FP+ Q&A and reports on what happened on X date, before during and after WDW trips.
Whether X kind of ticket or AP would be better, or offer a different FP+ choice and experience.
Whether booking in advance by 1 day, 5 days, 30 days, 45 days, 60 days, 60 days, plus length of stay... or day-of booking, and at what time, day-of... would make a difference as to availability.
Whether booking as a single guest or 2 guests, or a dozen guests, would make a difference.
Does booking for a second park (for park hopping) yield more choices.
Does making CHANGES in attraction FP+ the day-of, or canceling vs. letting FP reservations expire work better?
Attempting to book another FP+ after scanning at the first Mickey Head, but before scanning at the second Mickey Head.
Would booking FP+ starting at day 10 of a 10-day trip yield substantially better choices?

You get the drift.
These things have come under the DIS microscope daily over the past 2-3 years.

There is a LOT of anecdotal evidence.
