Does DL Offer Magical Express?

Simple question: does DL offer Magical Express Pick Up from the Airport like WDW does for hotel guests?

Unfortunately, there is no Disney-sponsored service in the mold of Disney's Magical Express that serves the Disneyland Resort.

A wide array of other companies do offer transportation from Los Angeles-area airports to the Anaheim Resort Area, including the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort.

I've never used any of them, so I can't share my opinions. I'm sure someone will be along shortly who can provide more insight into them.

I'm really not sure what its called but it could very well be the disneyland express, its a giant bus with disney pictures all on the side i believe it was $55 dollars each way from orange country. However we found it is MUCH cheeper to take a cab, and not take the bus.

The Disneyland Express bus is $30 round trip to LAX, less to/from SNA. Depends on how many people you have in your party whether that is less than cab fare, which I imagine would be at least $100 one way. DL Express doesn't handle your bags for you, unlike DME.

If you fly into the John Wayne Airport (I think it is called SNA), you can just walk out the curb with your bag and there are lots of cabs lined up, ready to take people to Disneyland (or the hotels). We have 3 kids, so we walk up and ask for a cab-van, and they call for one. We have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for one. I costs us about 40ish dollars from the airport to our hotel, which is cheaper than taking a airporter van--because they charge by the person. We get the cab drivers card as he drops us off, and we call him when we are departing to get get a ride back to the airport.

It works out well and is so easy!

We have used super shuttle and they were just fine- a van picks you up, usually there are 2-3 other groups in the van too that are also being dropped at nearby hotels. We have found the super shuttle service to be better at SNA than LAX.

Do a search online for a coupon- they usually have one out there somewhere.

So, we are debating a May trip,& need help on transportation. We have never been to DL resort, so your help is appreciated.

We will fly into LAX, I think we'll either use the DL Express or the Super Shuttle. It will only be 2 adults.

How much for the DL Express for 2 Adults vs the Super Shuttle?

We were just there early March and took the Disneyland Express from LAX to Hojo hotel. The express comes every hour early am, then every half hour after 10:30am I believe. We landed around 11:15am and by the time we got our bags, we caught the 12pm shuttle. You just stand right outside the baggage claim on the curb. Ask someone who works at the airport and they will tell you. It took exactly one hour 15 minutes to get to our hotel, they take you right there. We included our vouchers with our hotel and ticket package so not sure the price, sorry. But I know you can just get on and then pay then. It was very easy. Now, as we waiting for the bus, about every 5 minutes a shuttle van pulled up and asked us if we needed a ride. We could have probably done that and made it to our hotel faster as we would have been the only ones riding, but not sure what they charge. So basically, you will have no trouble catching a ride. If you book a ride online before you go, it will save you money.

When i arrive at the Orlando airport I dont even have to get my luggage, they are sent directly to my WDW resort. Does LAX have the same service to DL resorts or do I need to get my luggage at the airport?

You need to get your own luggage and book and pay for your own ground transportation.

No. It's because DLR only has 1/10th the number of on-property hotel rooms as WDW does. The majority of guests who visit from elsewhere stay in the off-property hotels--and the majority of guests overall are day-trippers from within Southern California. So unfortunately there's just not enough scale for Disney's Magical Express to be offered in California.

Disneyland Resort Express is as close as it gets: coach service from airport (LAX and SNA, both) to DLR. The differences are:

• it is run by a third-party (Gray Line Anaheim), see here;
• it isn't free (adult R/T fares from LAX are currently $36), but you can use the above link to buy your fares in advance;
• it doesn't offer luggage transfers (in both directions you have to get your bags between the luggage carousel and the bus--and between the bus and your hotel room--on your own);
• only the buses to/from SNA have exterior Disney "wraps" similar to DME (the LAX buses are simply white due to local regulations);
• and it stops not only at the three Disney hotels, but at most of the "Good Neighbor" hotels, as well--so you can generally take it no matter where you're staying at Disneyland.

That said, it works very well, and except for the expense and having to transfer your luggage yourself, it definitely feels very DME-like. I've never gotten between LAX and DLR any other way. (And unlike DME, they've never managed to break my bag, either.)
