Does Disneyland have veterinary staff?

I was just reading a posting on Reddit about a new kitten spotted in Downtown Disney:

One commenter mentioned "the on-site vet team." Is there really such a group? I think the horses live off-site, so I assumed they would get all their care there. Are there vets on site in case of unexpected issues with the horses? Or for some other reason? Disney wouldn't keep vets in the parks just to attend to the unofficial ducks and cats, would they?

You don’t even need confirmation, just think it through- they must have on-site vets as they run a trap and release program to spay/neuter the cats.

It’s a good relationship all around. The cats mostly stay away from guests and run a pest control business at night. We were told those that get too friendly are adopted out. If Disney didn’t control/take care of them it could quickly be a mess- internet estimates say the population is about 200.

Ducks fly so there’s not really anything Disney can do for them or about them…

They do have a vetrinary team to take care of the horses, which I think are the only on-show animals used at Disneyland. Theough they stay off-site, they are still in a Disney run facility They do absolutely care for the feral cat colony too, but I don't know if it's the same team.

The new kitten is so cute!! I know they have veterinarians for the horses. I know they care for the cats but I forget exactly who does that.

That doesn't need on-site staff. There aren't new cats popping up needing to be trapped every day. And experienced TNR volunteers can do the trapping, then take them to a vet. No reason to have a clinic on-site for that.

Yeah, the Circle D Ranch in Norco, CA, about a 30-40 minute drive from Disneyland. I found this article in the OC Register that says the horses used to be in the area that's now Galaxy's Edge:

Generally, large-animal vets specialize in that and leave the household pets to others. Not to say they couldn't take care of cats, but it would make more sense for Disney to have an arrangement with some closer vets to do any required medical care for the cats.

Now that I know that the horses were only moved eight years ago, my best guess is that the commenter didn't work at DL recently and was referring to the on-site horse vets helping with the cats before the horses were moved.

They for sure have a relationship a vet but I doubt it is onsite full time vet. It is likely a local vet that Disney calls when they need them.

If there is a new kitten they obviously missed a spay/neuter. 😉

Exactly. We aren't talking about an everyday need for medical care.

Because it's in DTD, speculation is that it wandered in from nearby. So far only one has been spotted, so no evidence of a new on-site litter. But who knows? 😁

Very possible. Or some evil person thinking oh Disneyland has cats and Spunky is a little too spunky for us so we'll take him there to hang out with the other cats.
