Does Disneyland have Photopass?

It's been a few years since we've been to Disneyland/DCA, but when we were last there, we don't remember being approached by Photopass photogs (and we weren't looking for them). Today, I went onto the photopass website to see what the cost for pre-pay is and it said it offered maps of where to find photopass photogs, but all the info was for WDW... so.....

Do they have photopass at Disneyland/DCA and if so, are there a good number of photogs there to make it worth it? We are going to be a pretty big group (approx. 50), and it would be great if we could make this work.

TIA :goodvibes

I have heard on here that they do have it. And you purchase the cd when you get home. or you can buy prints at the park. But Its a better deal to do the cd once you get home becasue you can add/ enhance them and then they send you the cd. Idk about any maps of where they are, but from what i gather on here.. they are in all the major character places. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in :)

Yes, DLR has PhotoPass. It works the same as it does at WDW. However, there is not a pre-order at DLR and the CD is only $60 (almost certain this is still the price). With 50 people in your group (wow!) I would say it's a great deal! Everyone can have a card, at the end of the trip, one person collects them and puts them into one account. At $1/person, what a deal!

So is there a DLR photopass website that you order the CD from or do you do it while still at DLR? If anyone has done this, please tell your experiences!
TIA

It's just the same website. Once you put a DLR photopass card ID number into it, you'll see that info. There's no list of places on the site (I haven't even seen a WDW list of places). Once you have the photopass card ID(s) on there, you'll get the right options and prices. 59.95 plus 7 bucks shipping for the CD.

If you do not want to edit the borders, etc, onto your pix, and you just want the plain pictures, you can get it right in the parks. There's a photo center on Main Street in DL, and a photo center inside Greetings from CA near the entrance of DCA where you can buy the CD. They generally throw in a few 4x6 prints for free, when you buy the CD there...same cost, no shipping (but possibly sales tax). Take the CD home with you. But you don't get to edit those pictures, so if editing and adding borders is important, order the CD once you're home!

stitchkingdom.com has a photopass section, and while it's WDW-centric, he MIGHT have a section on DLR...if not, there are a few threads around here of the special pix you can have taken...check around this forum and the Disneyland Community Board, or perhaps someone lovely will link you to it. :)

I just went to the website after the trip. I uploaded my own pics too, added borders, and ended up doing the photo book. Will probably do the same this trip too, that way my DLR books get done even if my kids books never do...:lmao:

Yep, it's $59.95 plus shipping-$66.95 total. A great deal if you're having 50 people.

It works the same as WDW. You'll have 30 days to upload your pix and then another 30 days to order them. Make sure everyone enters to the same account. There is no limit to how many pix you can have.

Check out the thread Sherry mentioned. You'll get some good ideas.

SO I dug a little deeper into the photopass site, but no where could I find the pricing that you all mentioned. I saw the pre-purchase prices of $99.95 or the CD plus book for $169.95 (holy cow!). From my previous purchase of a photopass CD, I know the regular WDW price is somewhere around $140 (before we knew of pre-purchase :headache:).

How will I be sure that I get the DLR price, and not the WDW price? Are the codes on the backs of the photopass cards themselves different? That's the only thing I can figure. (ETA: just found my last WDW photopass card and the first 3 letters on it are WDW... what do the DLR ones start with?)

Sorry to press so much on this, but I have a few other parents that are going to share the cost of this, and if the price doubles, I'm going to have some explaining to do!

Thanks!

As I said, you won't see the DLR pricing until you have DLR photopass card ID numbers on there. And they start with DLR.

I haven't yet been to WDW, but b/c I like to keep things straight (and be able to find good info for others), I've already started a separate photopass account, with a different email address, for when we go there.

That said, plenty of people have experienced, after traveling to both coasts/parks inside of 30 days, that as soon as they enter the DLR card ID numbers...the whole CD goes down to DLR pricing, even if it includes WDW.

So especially if your WDW visits are beyond 30 days in the past, don't worry about it.

But if you do worry, just open a new account for your DLR trips!

(I just went into my DLR photopass account, and the price is still 59.95 plus shipping)

I went to WDW in late May and added my photos in mid June. I went to Disneyland over the 4th of July and added those photos a couple of days later to my PhotoPass account. When I bought the cd of over 400 photos from both WDW and Disneyland, I paid $59.95 + 7 for shipping. Over 300 of those photos were from WDW. You will need to add the DLR photos after you've added the WDW ones.

So if I am overseas, (Australia), would it end up being cheaper to just buy the pass at DL??

From their site (scrolled down to Help at the bottom, wihtout even signing in):

Orders Containing Disney's PhotoCD or Disney's PhotoMovie
Regardless of other items in cart

Standard (within U.S. including AK, HI and PR)

$7.00

Express (within U.S. including AK, HI and PR)

$11.00
International (including Canada) $17.00

So yes, cheaper...but a different product b/c you don't get to edit them. So it's up to you based on what you actually want.
