Does Disney Still Not Allow Same Sex Unions?

::yes::

Perhaps we can get this thread back to the actual topic of if Disney will allow these ceremonies. Has anyone called to find out? I'm curious if they'll do VR's now for same sex couples who were married in MA.

The idea of going to MA then doing a vow renewal sounds great to me. Wonder if Disney would find a way out of that one? I sure hope not.

Have you asked over on the Gay & Lesbian at Disney board? Maybe someone over there has already asked all the questions you are thinking of.

I know the MA thing isn't exactly what you had in mind but that way you would be legally married in their eyes. Good luck to you two!

Wow i missed a lot! I see from my email that somebody wasnt happy. LOL. I did call and am waiting a call back. Ill let yall know.

As I wrote previously, I asked my Disney planner and she said Disney do not allow it.

I read this whole topic on another board with the UK. Turns out many people on the unoffical Disney boards have asked their planners this and each and every time it was a flat out NO in any cirumstance (not even vow renewals) I'm sorry for the bad news

I am surprised, since the company is so gay-friendly. They offer partner benefits, support Gay Days, etc... I am really mad to hear they won't do a committment ceremony.

It's not up to them. It's Florida law. (Stupid law...)

The thing with Disney is, they have parties and events there all the time, many of which have a lot of the same/similar features that a wedding reception would have. So if you wanted to have a reception through Disney, essentially you could. Just as long as you didn't call it a "reception", per se. The only thing is, you would need to have your ceremony at another location. Before we had to postpone our wedding plans, DH2B & I were actually considering having our ceremony (w/about 20-25 guests) in a either a suite or villa at one of the hotels. We wanted a villa overlooking the water at the Boardwalk or a suite at the Grand Californian at DLR (we live in So Cal) - which we even had booked & the view off the balcony was of DCA. It would be casual, but not jeans/shorts casual. We were going to bring flowers & decorations to dress up the room a bit. Then we wanted to do a dessert pary for either Wishes or Illuminations had we decided on WDW - which we would've needed to go through Disney to plan. Or we were also considering a Mad Hatter Tea Party for brunch the following day.
There are so many possibilities!!!

Good luck!!! :lovestruc

p.s. You & your partner look absolutely adorable together!!!!!

I think this is a wonderful way of getting around this. You could rent a beautiful suite at the GF(they are gorgeous and most overlook the castle0...true they are like over 1,000 a night but the wp is like 2,500! You do not need to be part of dftw to host a private event...you could have all the works from a pre-reception to dinner with woinderful and a band with dancing, a DJ and even a dessert party!

Good luck!
