Just curious, I know after someone almost died of heat stroke that Six Flags started offering free ice water in nice cups for the asking.

We were thinking of bringing in those little crystal light packets and just drinking water for free.

Anyone?

We were able to get cups of ice but I had to pay for water bottles. There are bubblers you could fill the ice cup at though. We brought crystal light and noticed one odd thing about it.It made us all have to go to the bathroom a lot more often than usual. I have no idea what is in it but it must be a diuretic.

Yes they do! You can get a cup of ice water from any eaterie on WDW property.

Also, I dont know if they do this all year round...but in the hot summer months, in the sit down restraunts, when you order a soft drink....you get free refills.

And they keep um coming! Last year while in Epcot it was 103, and my Alfredos waiter kept bringing Ice Tea every 5 minutes....I swear I woofed down 8 of them!

On our last trip in 2004, some cs restaurants would give us a large cup of ice water, some would give a little dinky cup of ice water, and some only gave a cup of ice and told us to fill it at the water fountain. :confused3 So it seems there is no set rule, it just varies by restaurant. Truth is, they REALLY want to sell you bottled water or soda but they can't exactly let you die of dehydration either.

I think I saw a commercial for Kool-Aid packets, too, the other day. I think they're new? Anyways, I figured I'd throw some in our bags for our trip, too, just in case we need something free to drink.

Yeah for free ice water!

They do give you free ice water. On our last visit I asked for a glass of ice water and the CM told me he would be glad to give me a glass with ice but he was not permitted to put water in the glass as the water in their stand was not filtered. He explained that only the food stands with filtered water were permitted to give you water. So not only do they give you free ice water, its filtered. This saves us a ton of money when we are at the parks.

It actually works quite well for me. I actually PREFER to drink ice water than soda or anything else. Sodas never seem to quinch my thirst.

The water out of the tap is very full of sulfur or something. Maybe putting Crystal Lite in it will kill the taste.

It's typical Central Florida drinking water -- utterly unpalatable by most people. Crystal Light does hide the taste a bit.

We sure found that out on our 2004 trip. Yuck!!

Counter service restaurants will give youa free ice water but the snack stands are not equiped? So say I could get a glass of water at Casey Jones?

TIA Dave

They only place where they could do this is where there is running water available, and the haven't installed plumbing to most of the snack stands. (It's actually kind-of remarkable that they have installed electrical service to most of them.)

(Incidently, the restaurant is just known as Casey's Corner.)

we were just there over the busy easter weeks and had many free glasses of ice water.

Okay, we do something a little different. We bring cans of Coke with us as well as bottled water. We use ice from the counter services for our own Coke and bottled water. I don't like the Florida water even with Crystal Light or Kool Aid added. This is one of our money saving tips.

I'm a bit surprised (and impressed) that they haven't started charging for cups of ice, like a many other places. Just a little bit more of Disney's generosity.

Thanks Mickey! :thanks:

We travel bag-free in WDW. If it doesn't fit into our pockets we don't take it. But being the lazy bum I am, I'd hate to carry cokes around all day. Of course, if I had a stroller it might be okay. But DD18 is a little old for a stroller these days. ;)

We had some ice cream at the ice cream shop in Tomorrowland last week, and I asked for a cup of water, fully expecting a dixie cup...nope, they gave me a large cup filled with ice and water. Yum! :)

very cool! :thumbsup2

I know they used to charge for it at six flags, but seriously 4 yrs ago we had a slew of heat strokes..so they changed it, its good to know its "world" wide lol.

Yup I love the crystal light tea packets, weve tried the koolaid, but its so sweet it actually makes me thirsty (plus wow lots of sugar).

So is the filtered water nasty too? I'm pretty funny about my water, I live near lake grapevine in the dallas area and hate to even eat at the restaurants there since the water is icky, makes the cokes on tap and the tea icky too.
