My Mom just returned from her first ever onsite stay at ASM... They had a great time except for a few snags...

The pool near their preferred room was closed for refurb.. fine they walked to Mighty Ducks (you think they would have told them this when booking the trip... last minute by the way.. thats probably the only value that was available...

And on their return flight home Delta canceled the flight and they got stuck at the airport for numerous hours....
Should'nt Disney notify you if your flight is canceled or is it a whole magical express issue???

It's a good habit to always check if your flight is running on time before you leave for the airport.

It's not WDW's job to monitor flights and notify guests. If you want a service like that, spend the money to stay Club level at a Ritz Carlton rather than a three star hotel.

Orlando airport is a great place to end up with a delayed flight due to the plethora or shopping and dining options there.

You or your travel agent will be notified of flight schedule changes (but not cancellations), as a matter of course, typically three weeks prior to the flight date. Beyond that, you have to make your own arrangements to keep yourself updated about schedule changes and/or flight schedule irregularities such as cancellations. Many airlines offer a paging service, where they will page you with such changes.

You can check your luggage and get your BP, for participating airlines including Delta, in your resort. I don't you'll get a BP if the flight is cancelled. Nothing will help you if a flight is cancelled close to your departure time.

Thanks for your quick replies... Having not traveled much myself this is important info for the future,, thanks again

I don't know if other airlines do this... but with United you can register at united.com for flight status changes - they'll notify you if your flight is cancelled/delayed/or even a gate change and will send it to your email, pager, or cell phone. It's called EasyUpdate. (FYI - sometimes the info isn't quite up-to-date because changes can happen so quickly - but at least if your flight is cancelled you'll find out).

Delta has an online notification service also. I use it routinely.
