Is there any place ON the disney resort to buy food? Like groceries? I dont mean like just sodas and candy..I mean like bread, milk, sandwich making stuff and snacks?
we are flying to WDW and are not renting a car so going off resort is not really an option and even if we could-Im not familiar with Orlando or florida and very bad with directions so would probably end up lost and frustrated. Dont want the extra expense of calling a cab either.

We are staying at the POP CENTRY and I requested a refrigerator so I could save on dinning by keeping some basic food items in the room instead of haveing to eat at the resturaunts every day.

But even though Disney seems to have thought of everything, I dont see a grocery store. -Obviously they would want people to eat at the resturaunts and spend more money - but if they considered people on a budget enough to create the "Value" resorts...wouldnt they have taken this into consideration as well?

I dont think there's any grocery-type store. Right outside of the Downtown Disney area is a Goody's and about a mile down is a Winn Dixie. Goody's is kind of expensive. If there is any way that you can get to them, that will really help you. It is literally only a few miles away from the POP.

The Goodings is rather expensive. You could walk to it from Downtown Disney and take a cab back to your resort. Or you could take a cab to the Super Wal Mart on 535.

There are a couple of grocery delivery companies in Orlando. The one that we have used is www.wegoshop.com You e-mail them a list and they will shop at the grocery store of your choice. I believe they have a $15 delivery charge. There is also www.gardengrocer.com (I believe is the name of it). We used wegoshop and it worked out great. They give you an estimated delivery time also, they were there within 5-10 minutes of the time we were given.

The Disney resorts at DVC properties have expanded grocery items in the stores. That includes milk, juice, frozen pizza, cereal, and some limited produce.

I don't know how much a cab would cost, but it HAS to cost more money than a grocery delivery from Gooding's, wegoshop, or gardengrocer. Plus, you won't have to take the time out from your vacation to shop and get to and from the store.

I got a delivery from Gooding's and thought it was SOOOO convenient, especially because I didn't have to wait around for the delivery. They delivered to my resort's Bell Services, then Bell Services delivered to me -- they kept the cold stuff cold while I was out.
